You'll be alight. I would recomend werner over some of the other "training companys" anyday as they have a very good "system" of doing things. And I think you'll like the electronic logs too, beats doin paper. And what ppl say about them, "you cant make any money/get miles" with electronic logs,lol..if they only knew. Also, all of their loads and driver log hours are incorperated in the same system, so always try and get to the shp/con, stop your clock and park over night if you can. Instead of parkin 10 miles away at the TA, wakin up in AM, starting your clock to drive to the consignee only to sit there getting unloaded for 5 hrs burning ur clock when u could be sittin there with a fresh clock and better chance of getting a nice long run to go pu after ur unloaded.tip: (dptchrs like it when you do this), just dont take ur truck into somewhere u cant get it out..lol,nvm, bad idea doin that startin off, keep er at the trkstop for a while before u go searchin for a parkin spot near the shp/con at 2am with 2 weeks experience--bad idea..lol. A good dispatcher might teach you some of this and more.(time management/planning). You do your part and hopefully he does his. Given you might run into some things about werner you dont like, that might make you wanna quit but all I can say is Good luck and keep a good attitude no matter what.. Peace =]

Hey good luck to you and give us a heads up on how it goes. Warner has sent me a pre hire for the end of Januray and it is one of two that I have and i'm trying to decide if I should give Warner a second look.

The rest of it at werner is a prety well oiled smoothly run operation they got goin. As I mentioned above about good dptchrs/bad dptches, thats not really something you need to comcern urself with/worry bout too much startin off as it will be ur first dptchr and you have noway to pass judgement for u have no comparison and frankly could very well be you not doin what you're supposed to, not the dispatcher. Just stick to the basics and keep your nose clean at first. GL...Heres a good piece advice I got from another thread on this forum:

Are a few of the many emotions y'all will experience in a truckin' career, and can be useful when properly considered. When y'all reach the point where what MIGHT happen becomes just a passing concern because y'all have enough confidence in your abilities to know y'all can think your way through problems when they arise, congratulations are in order. You've graduated to the next higher level and deserve to be addressed as such.Click to expand...Last edited: Dec 20, 2009

Same with a shipper. The older I get I want to get close, but not sleep at the cons. I want to get up when I am ready. Not when someone decides to unload me. I also want a restroom available and coffee available when I get up. I would not work for a company that I am micro managed on everything I do. I am a big boy. I do not need someone to hold my hand and tell me how to run my truck.Logicbomb, Rattlebunny, alex94 and 2 others Thank this. -

You will find out after you do this for awhile how you can get burned. You can get to the cons and sleep and a couple hours after you are there they beat on your door. They want to unload you early. You get unloaded, still have 5 hours before you can roll and they tell you to leave.

All I was sayin is at a company like werner, and just startin out, sometimes to make money it takes you doin a little more then the nextguy and/or provin urself. -

Maybe your out of hours and want to just head in to the city because it's 2 am but you have to go by the scale. If you were to go to bed you will wake up to a 2 hour traffic jam, and if you go by the scale and they come out to see your electronic log what do you do?Can you fudge the computer ? I personally don't show the scale anything they don't ask for.Click to expand...Click to expand...Last edited: Dec 20, 2009
