Rant: The 5-days-in-a-row workweek is arbitrary and my body doesn't agree with it

Hard as in (if i work 80hrs a week at xyz I’ll be a millionaire in no time) no you won’t.
Working smart is “if I do X for x amount of time I can take step 2”
Any job is a dead end job if you don’t work SMART.

That is EXACTLY what people have to do. Work hard! Just like you and I have. Anybody can get ahead, just like you and I did. BY WORKING HARD! You can not coddle anybody towards success. I was raised by two loving barely middle class parents in the 60's and 70's. I was taught, if you don't work....you don't eat. We didn't have all of the section 8 housing, free school lunch for every kid in the school, welfare and food stamps that totaled more than working people earned. Take a look around you. We are NOT heading in the right direction. These days you would think that work is optional to survive. To many it is. I have those types in my own family.

Throughout my early 20s, I averaged no less then 100 hours a week.wake up 5am Monday. Grab the dump trailer, go to work, head over to the LTL company I was working at, do a few pick ups then a few line haul turns, get out about 3-4 am, grab a shower and maybe a nap, back in the dump trailer, for another 8-10, rest of the week was gravy though I didn’t have to do picks on LTL so I could go home and get 3 hours, Saturday half days, fulls days, wrenching Sunday’s, #### that.

now, I roll out late Monday morning and come home Friday about noon time, and I’m trying to change things around so I can do even less work for the same money, had a funeral for a family friend last weekend who was killed on a bike, no guarantees for tomorrow, and even if there was, life is too short to spend 24/7 in a 5’ box no matter how much I like trucking

Idk man I don't get burnt out doing 5 days a week. If i was running up my 14 everyday that might be a different story. But 4 days a week is cool too with how the rates are now but i like stacking it away for a rainy day. I'll take time off when the rates drop off. Jan-feb we don't work that hard

I am in the process of research into H.B Reese and his relationship with Milton Hershey. Both men died wealthy. But they did work hard. Hershey failed several times. He eventually found the best way to make milk chocolate.

    really?

    You’ll hate my thoughts.

    burn out?

What happens if you can’t work like you want to?

there is going to be a time when you won’t have a choice so get used to it now,

I tried to read it, but it was too taxing.
