Anybody ever installed a larger, more blades, or wider blade fan? It's well into the 100's today her e in Wyoming and South Dakota, and I'm having to back out of it on some hills.

If so, how much effect did it have.

    Thanks guys

It CAN have an effect but it will be minimal due to how the radator works. Usually your better off getting a thicker and/longer/wider radator depending on how much room you have and where it is. More surface area means more coolant getting cooled at a time means easier to manage temps.

A really basic breakdown of whats going on but good enough for discusion.

Once changed fan from steel to plastic on an old '92 9300 410hp n14 stc motor (helped some) however the crossflow radiators in the old internationals really seemed to be the bigger issue.

What truck and engine you got?

I know some guys switch their older cats to an acert fan with good results. More blades I think and moves more air

92 Volvo with a 11.1 DDEC II. I've tuned it pretty hot, so heat is gonna happen, was just thinking of a way to increase flow.

It has a new 4 core and new water pump.

Cooling has definitely improved since replacement, but today's heat caused some issues.

How much of a gap do you have from the fan to the shroud?

The wider the gap the less efficient it will be

I assume you're speaking side to side? The standard 2ish inches you get with the correct belts, all the way around, so a slightly larger diameter fan is possible.

I also have some depth to work with there, 3-4 inches, so a wider blade would be possible too.

I just didn't want to chase that rabbit if the difference was negligible.
