I was thinking back to my OTR days today and how I would always play certain songs each time I entered through particular cities/particular states that had a classic song about them. I was just wondering, am I the only one who does this?
My songs:
1. Omaha - Bob Seger, Turn The Page
"On a long and lonesome highway
East of Omaha"
2. West Virginia - John Denver, Country Roads
3. Winslow, Arizona - The Eagles, Take It Easy
"Well, I'm a standing on a corner
In Winslow, Arizona
such a fine sight to see"
4. Las Vegas - Bruce Springsteen, Viva Las Vegas (my favorite version of it, no disrespect to Elvis)
5. The Whole State of Indiana - Any John Mellencamp song
6. Boston - Dropkick Murphys, I'm Shipping Up To Boston (If you've seen the movie Departed, you know the song):
7. Philadelphia - Bruce Springsteen, Streets of Philadelphia
8. Texas - ACDC, Thunderstruck
"Went through to Texas, yeah, Texas, and we had some fun"
9. Los Angeles - Bob Seger, Hollywood Nights
10. Detroit - Journey, Don't Stop Believing
"Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere"
I never got routed/never been through Atlantic City or Allentown. I always wanted to play Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City" and Billy Joel's "Allentown" if I did though lol.
So, what's your favorite songs associated with certain places? Anybody else like to play them when you first arrive to the these places?
Who else likes to play songs associated with particular places when entering/driving through them?

I could list several examples. The first one that comes to my mind is Detroit Rock City by Kiss in Detroit.

As for Detroit try to play
Stanley told me the song is not only about Detroit, but about a Kiss fan who died in a car crash on his way to a Kiss concert.
Stanley says Detroit embraced Kiss before anyone else did
Stanley then decided to write a song about Detroit
Stanley says he enjoys playing "Detroit Rock City" at each show on tour
r.t.d. tour.
