I've found something of a 'dream' truck and need some opinions.

It's a '99 379 with a big bunk sleeper. Cummins Signature 600 engine set at 700hp and 2050tq that needs overhauled because the bottom end is shot. Body and sleeper are in the condition you might expect from a truck that's been driven hard for 20yrs but have been told the interior is a 7/10.

I'm going to stop and look at it on my way back east, just want to know if the 600, having an ECM, would have the round data link (company requires use of Qualcomm elogs)and how many folks would seriously consider buying this truck with the info provided.

Personally, no. I wouldn't have it with the ISX if you gave it to me. Been there, done that.

Bottom end is shot is very vague,

If the block is junk because of a spun main bearings you pretty much need a complete engine.

So much for a good deal..........

His tentative price is 20 for the truck as-is or 'around' 50 with a rebuilt sig600.

I know you've got to be wary of good deals...lol. There's no for sale sign on it, I just called the shop it's sitting at because of a wild hair.

Cummins should definitely have a "Results May Vary" badge on them. This cm871 of mine has 1.6 on the clock with one overhaul and one head replacement..

First thing I'd do is throw that red motor overboard and put a 2WS Cat in there. In a 99 that should be entirely legal emmissions wise, may be a little more expensive but I like my Cats.
