Came Across A Driver Who Hates Drops & Hooks Along With Swaps

    It also could have been the yard jockey. It's not Miller's trailer. So that jockey is not going to care. He just has to just drag it where he is told.

    I have to disagree pal ....not that shag drivers arnt capable of damage but there isn't nothing to hit there and I've never seen a shag truck fast enough to blow out an entire casing .

    For the last few OTRD Years '13 just into '18, from Greedsboro, NC., I did Drop a trailer at MACH 1 in Coppell, TX., went to a Hotel, next afternoon Hook it, after loading and went back home, through hotlanta and the ever so exotically intoxicating I-85N.
    Other turns went same way to Coppell then to Phoenix, AZ., Drop-n-Hook then sometimes into So. Cal., stay a coupla days with Mother, then turn-n-burn I-40, bypass DFW and stop in South Side Memphis, then Crashville and back to base in Groinsboro, NC. Drop. Those were Paper Runs/Coloring Books/extra hours available at Petro. Few days Home. Hook next run.
    OTRD=Over The Road Dedicated or Out To Resuscitate Demon.

    Werked at PTL in the early 2000 decade thru an O.O. and PTL was famous for swapping Trailers (countless D-n-H). Had a box full of Bulbs and Glad Hand Rubbers. Drag Trailers to Air Hoses or Shops. Big Deal.
    I sat on one junker trailer in, i think Denver, CO., at a T/A for 2 days (wknd) and told dispatch it needed a new Inspection Sticker. Became another D-n-H. Other Driver had "lots of time" to secure Inspection.

    Lately here at the Pumpkin, I’ve been right at 60% in terms of trailers needing something, from a simple driver-friendly taillight to small holes that I’m happy to tape or caulk if I can reach it, to tires that are worn near bald (my biggest peeve). But when I’m in the vicinity of Carlisle, it’s about 3 of 4.

    Right there is a big problem with the industry, guys don’t care because DOT isn’t checking but a handful of megas or tbh not many fly by nights either. Thanks for being a conscientious driver you’re getting harder to find.

    I recently had to bobtail to pick up one of our empty's at a customer we don't service anymore. It had been sitting there for
    close to 4 to 5 thousand years. Needless to say, several flat tires, brake chamber locked up, rust inside the
    trailer, etc. What amazed me though was the reefer unit started right up! What ever the company paid for those
    batteries was worth it!

    The following separations have me stymied, confused:

    Since it is already late, it seems it was redundant to add "time pressures" as it is also labeled a "Service Failure" and should have stayed with original Driver, who, for whatever reason(s), made the Load to be Late.
    If the shipper made the Load to be Late, it's then not the Fault of ANY Driver and "added time pressures" become redundant.

    Considering what you stated, the Original Driver was under a Service Failure Load.
    Transferring a Service Failure Load to another Driver does not eliminate the Service Failure to the Original Driver, just transfers the Approved Negativity & Aggravations at the Receiver to the New Driver.

    Drivers in earlier days "goofing off at a Truck Stop playing Cherry Master" were never able to Back Up any Clock, regardless of Travel Speed, as we heard on the Chatter Box.<<

    I can easily understand WHY said Driver doesn't like Drop-n-Hook and I concur, as I would have refused the "swap" because it would not have been feasible to accept the Receiver carnage for LATE Delivery/Service Failure. In MY Opinion, the "added time pressures" would have fallen thru the cracks in Dispatch because there would have been no need to "Hurry Up and Deliver".

    Normally. A repower is done for 2 reasons. A) The current driver doesn't have enough hours on the clock to deliver on time. Or it needs a team to make it on time. B) The driver arrived well early and would be sitting wasting a good clock.

    Hey easy on us Yard Management Professionals , i always call in flats , missing flaps , lights etc etc , and guess what its crickets on the phone.
    Only one that comes is the service truck for JBHU.
    You dream that we destroy equipment , not likely with a camera on every post and 2 mall cops that would just love ruin your day.
