You are self sufficient so I would head for this spot. If you do not need the B.S. of the truck stops.
Google Maps
Should be 2 to 3 hrs out.
What if it Snows?

A couple weeks ago I was at my brother’s house eating smoked ribs, and grabbed a handful of potato chips thinking they were the sour cream kind.
Nope, it was some nasty pickle flavor. Yuck…Rideandrepair, LoSt_AgAiN, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this. -
Our house in Grass Valley was on top of a ridge that ran exactly in line with the prevailing winds. A few years back a fire started south of us and if the wind hadn't changed at sundown it would have taken the whole ridge out. We were already evacuated by then.
I already know what CalFire had planned for that area. It's dense urban interface with thick stands of over growth Ponderosa and Doug fir. Little winding streets, poor access in and out, several hundred houses, and a propane tank in every yard. If a fire starts up that ridge they're going to evacuate everyone, lock the access down tight, build a good dozer line around it, and just ignore it until the propane tanks quit blowing up. Let 'er burn.
Know what? I don't blame them a bit. In a fire environment like that the whole area is impossible to defend and if you're going to live there you assume the risk.Rideandrepair, dwells40, LoSt_AgAiN and 8 others Thank this. -
Don’t you guys bury your propane tanks ….?

And there's the rub...very few tanks explode. I don't know about you but I wouldn't be hanging around to find out which ones had dirt dauber nests in the vent tube.Rideandrepair, LoSt_AgAiN, Dale thompson and 6 others Thank this.
