I can easily think its the company that pushes Pre. They want to hang the driver if anything happens after you claim you did a complete examination of your Truck and Trailer once a day. Its all about FAULT. Hang the driver. Just like the No Parking on Ramps. That is another company thing. If you couldn't park there it would be posted. If a drunk or drug induced, or sleepy driver runs into the back of your Rig. That is there fault. Especially if you are broke down or trying to find out from your company if you can break your HOS. Parking is going to be the Biggest Problem with CMV driving very shortly. Just do the dvir at the end, 15 mins line 4.

You being serious a pre trip isn’t required by dot?
……wow I’ve wasted so much time every #### morning for no reason.
I do a post trip before I go to bed but then was always told I had to do a 30min pretrip in the morning

    Team818 Thanks this.

If it’s not a regulation, “DOT” cannot enforce it. Trust me on this.

Read the Regs, if it was not a requirement it would not be part of the CDL. When you get a ticket the part is always listed

We are talking about company policy enforced by DOT. We are not talking about if a pretrip is required or not.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

“Actually no. A pti isn't required anywhere in the regulations, and as such there is no regulations stating how often it has to be done (US rules, Canada is different).”

    Team818 Thanks this.

Very true. Now read the rest of that post you are quoting from a different thread. That is if you are not simply trolling.

I wonder if mods merged threads as I posted that it a different thread....
    Or I could be misremembering.

Either case read what I wrote. There is no regulation that requires a pti. What there is is a requirement to be satisfied a whole list of stuff is working. There are ways to be satisfied without doing a pre trip. I gave some examples, but as a practical matter one cannot be satisfied without doing either a pre or post trip.

Bean Jr. and Mototom Thank this.

Thank you. I do a post trip because I figure if somethings ####ed up I can have the service guy fix it while I’m on break and not have to wait hours right after starting my clock.

    ZVar Thanks this.
