There’s some great back country roads that run across Texas. I was heading down 6 think it was from over near Waco to Stephenville a few years ago. Sun was rising, went 40 miles before I saw a car. Stop the truck right in the middle of the road and took a few pictures. Lol then I came up upon this little old Western town. Old wooden covered walkway the whole 9 yards. Pulled in and next to a mom and pop breakfast cafe, owner came out told me to go ahead and just park right on the side of the road right out front “it was good for business“. Lol went in and had a great homemade breakfast and was on my way.

I also enjoy the highways up north going to and past Minneapolis this time of year, cooler crisp air, lighter traffic and lots of great historic small towns.

Anywhere out west as far as Texas.
Love me some western states esp during winter. The weather cuts down on everyone who’s just out goofing around

Anywhere in the great State California. Especially the 2 lane roads. Nothing more beautiful than that scenery in this world. I also like running the 5 and turning my CB up so I can listen to you midwestern/ east cost types complain about my beloved 55mph speed limit. Nothing like light loads and 55mph to net insane fuel mileage for this driver.

D.Tibbitt, Dockbumper, stacks and 2 others Thank this.

IMO This is more true than most non-drivers would ever realize.

Most non drivers I know... Even ones in my own family who know exactly what my job is, dont have a clue how lonely and stressful it is.

When I was OTR I couldn't understand how local drivers could stand the short runs and all the contact with office personnel... But now that I am local myself, I dont know if I could ever go back to OTR.... Even I didnt fully realize just how depressed I was from being away from home all the time. I was missing my children grow and learn, now I get to be a bigger part of that.
