A Case Of Role Reversal-Trucker Killed After Running Into Traffic

I cant help but wonder what would scare a person that bad. To think suicide is the better way out.
Owed money to the mafia?
Was getting extorted and failure would mean bodily pain?

Very strange and sad. RIP driver

 

Maybe he was tired of running a recap and split sleeper births. The coffee, the ex, the bills, the refer running all the time, the low miles, the pay, the reality of how he voted, ran out of pot, he just said "goodbye cruel world, I have made a mess of everything".... here comes a Big SUV.... ahhhhhh. ahhhhh.. silence. That poor driver. Wow. Life Insurance is voided out. Family gets Zero. That poor driver.

Just saying.

 

maybe he had cancer?

maybe his wife was divorcing him and cleaning him out?

maybe his son came out of the closet?

maybe his daughter is pregnant for the 14th time by the 14th different guy?

maybe his truck started to do a regen?

maybe i have nothing else right now?

 

There you go. Maybe he was going to get a down grade to an international truck. The company is putting sleeper facing cameras inside the trucks, fitting all the trailers with those trailer tails. I hear ya. The company was going to a 60 hour clock so he would get even less sleep. Just doesn't work anymore. Don't know his age, maybe he was notified he would not be getting his social security disability at age 39 1/2.

 

Happens more than you would think.

A couple years ago, I volunteered to return a truck to the widow. Middle of February, still had the load on.

Police had it towed to a yard, wife and I drove there, then she followed in the pickup to deliver in Joliet, then deliver to widow in Darien, WI.

Guy was about my age, 12 year old daughter, wife. Rolled into a rest area north of Indy and shot himself one morning.

Sobering experience.

 

I think so too, he left this old world, I'm sure his background will answer the questions. The questions the family needs answered. If they don't already know. Why do something like that? To be really honest, Truck Driving is really NOT for everyone. It used to be fun, I mean not that its torture, but it was a lot more fun, just 20 years ago. this poor poor driver here. My goodness. Never do this folks. Always face the music, face your misdeeds, get mental help, don't put yourself in hades with ending your own life. So sad.

 

I looked at his calendar, he’d stopped marking it a few months earlier. Pictures of his daughter and drawings for Daddy in the cab.

Keyed up on his mic - hands on his wheel and shifter as he’d left it. Odd feeling.

Looked at his freight bill - cheap load of bulk hazmat to return him home for his better paying load for my agent.

Reciever couldn’t have been more GAF less. Product they didn’t need. Can’t have - the truck sat in storage 2 weeks before I could complete the task.

Agent on the load was worthless too - no concern at all.

I sent the freight payment to the widow - truck was near out of fuel - payments on a recent inframe.

Some health issues - heart. Widow was very even. I don’t know how folks handle grief, She offered $ - we refused.

Still haunts me on occasion. Couldn’t get that hazmat cleanup smell out of my nose for days. Stripped and took a shower when I got home.

 

Most states pay out life insurance for suicide after a two-year exclusion period. In some states it's one year.

Not that I'm encouraging anyone to commit suicide. But facts are facts, and I guarantee if you know someone who does, the insurance company isn't going to tell you that unless you ask.
