Antenna Length and Door Jamb Mount ?

Different people will have different answers for coax length..Some will say 18' and give reasons and others will say a specific length for freq ect..So do your own research and decide..Doubtfull it will hurt anything if you went with 18 or 14 or 12 ect feet...Just dont cut n splice,add a 3 foot and 10 foot with connectors kinda crap..Dont kink,bend ect it either buy running it through door jamb rubber....Take some time to watch youtube vids on the subjects and make your decision based on the truck you have.
Personally i wouldnt run an antenna on the passenger side,its the side that will get the most abuse with trees n such..
My suggestion is to read the threads here re ant choice for your specific truck...What i would use on a 379 is not the same as a kw t series truck or cascadia..

 

I had no idea there was a tech in the bosselman truck stop again. Hopefully he did a good job
on doing the alignment on your new Galaxy. Cb World has several vise grip mounts that are
probably what your looking for. The important thing is the antenna, otherwise your new tuned
radio won't work very good as far as distance goes. The tech could of helped you with that too.

Seen a good # of so called "techs" who i thought knew stuff but most just knew how to take from your wallet and not give the correct info for change....

When techs run coax out your window or know how to use more than a $20 barjan swr meter to tune antenna....buurrrrr shakes me to the core at whats out there..A person is better off studying and expermenting on their own and learn that way..

 

Ya I get what you're saying. Since the OP didn't mention what kind of truck he's driving, there's no good way to recommend a good antenna. That's why I mentioned the tech could of and hopefully would have answered his questions. Good quality coax is just half of the antenna system. The next time I'm there I will have to check out his work bench. Ha.

 

Well ill make it simple...
Any ant eater nose style kw 5ft skip shooter or firestick...
Cascadia,mirror mount and braided straps on hinges with 7ft skip shooter/fire stick...
Classic style of truck that has a high mount mirror bracket same as ant eater nose kw..
Wouldnt bother with wilson 2000 or the ext big coil ant,not worth it for basic radio and expensive..

 

Why would you want to have a new radio aligned by someone who is a truck-stop cb tech?

 

Maybe it's because it's easier than trying to get mr. fine tune to do it?

I've always wondered why people think it's neccessary to have a new radio tuned. I know there's a lot of utube vids saying that the factory tunes arent up to par. I guess it's a good sales pitch for the tech selling the radio.

 

Hell world peace is achievable before that happens.
