IMHO, I dont believe that railroad companies have the capacity to move the freight they have now as quickly or effectively as trucks do, let alone even more!
I believe the "Master Plan", that CSA 2010 is just 1 component of, is the elimination of the "over-paid, difficult to please" veteren truckdriver and replace them with rookies who will do the same job for HALF THE COST and will put up with TWICE THE GARBAGE that the oldtimers do now! The trucking companies will make more money and be able to get the job done with less aggravation from the driver.If you look at the groups who are pushing this stuff down our throats, The ATA, specifially. They only have one thought in mind, how can "we" make more money? The owner of one of the trucking companies that belong to the ATA was ALLEDGEDLY overheard to say something to the effect the he "didnt think drivers were worth more $25k a year"! Pretty soon, at the rate things are going, that is going to happen.
But, that is merely my opinion! What do I know?

Things to think about, I guarantee that is what is pushing CSA 2010, the ever-increasinly harder to meet medical card standards, BMI and the sleep apnea stuff, Trucks crossing the border from Mexico, no idle laws, EOBRs, anything and everything the bean counters of the trucking companies can do to force the higher paid driver to leave the industry to allow the cheaper and easier to control driver(drivers who cant afford to turn down ANY load b/c they will be constantly broke are easier to control) into the truck is what you are going to see happen in the next few years. They will call it safety, save the enviroment, whatever lies they have to tell us, the effect will be the same. -

The CSA2010 is nothing less than another way to "herd" the slaves back on the plantation. The government is going to put another chain around your ankle in the name of safety.
Have you ever notice that everything that the government does in the transportation business they camouflage it as safety. But you go and try to blow the whistle on a carrier and see how far you get. They call you some dirty names and pay no attention to you. Safety my rear-end. -
The conspiracy theories abound
Yes, crappy drivers will be taken off the road. There is no need to get violations if you are indeed a professional driver, able to competently use ALL the tools of your trade. The crap companies will be inspected more often (what is your companies IIS-D), and non-professional drivers will receive more warnings and citations. Do your job correctly, work for a company that cares about their equipment and you should not have a problem. I looked up the IIS-D for the company I drive for. They have a 23 on a scale 0-100. All scores above 75 are to be inspected. Whats your score?

What does anyone know about these two on-line sources? I read that some carriers have purchased VAG's software and plan to use it (maybe they are already using it) to educate themselves and their drivers about CSA 2010. Any comments or suggestions or other websites? I'm a wannabe so I don't have the "luxury?" of exposure to training from within a company. I would like to be better informed about CSA 2010 before it becomes "front and center" to me as a new driver.
(P.S. I know that volumes have been written in the forum about CSA 2010 and I've read a fair number of the posts.)
