That fld with the setback front axle has the tightest turning radius of any truck ever made.
Talk about practical. That truck can be much larger than a truck with a set forward axle or some other make of truck and that one will back right in the other one will be going back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.
And for the record I haven't knocked anyone's truck. I don't know where you guys get this from. It's like one person says one thing and then someone says something else and then someone says something else and next thing you know is completely different than from the beginning.
And to me, again I'll say it again, to me a work truck that does not fit where you take it is worthless... To me. The truck that people see you coming and people say hey that's nice it looks nice I like it that's great and then you watch the guy struggle and can't get in where he's got to go... To me that's junk as far as a truck for work. It's cool if you go places that you can get in and out I guess. It's cool if you take it to shows and it's lined up with other show trucks. But to watch a guy wrestle and not be able to get in on a regular daily ongoing basis is just silly. And if I had to wrestle with something like that everyday I would get rid of it as fast as I can. To me that is worthless for a work truck. If it works for you that's great. I'm not a big fan of super stretched out trucks to begin with I think they look like they have more class if they're closer to stock or maybe a little stretch is ok.
I am probably in the minority. That's okay everybody is entitled to their opinion. I think Peterbilt is the junkiest piece of crap truck that was ever made by mankind, I think it's uncomfortable I think that it's obnoxious, I think it is flat-out ugly, I think it is extremely impractical, I think the when I watch people wrestle with those trucks it just makes me laugh. And when I think that someone spent an obnoxious amount of money so that they can wrestle with it and they can't fit in anywhere and all of the problems they have... To me that's worthless. To me that's how I see it. To me it is much more important that your truck is mechanically sound and when you start it it goes and does everything you need it to do safely and dependably. And of course that means that it functions like it supposed to so that you can back in where you need to without wrestling an elephant everyday. To me practicality and function is the most important thing. Chicken lights and chrome are meaningless. I appreciate the effort, but if the chicken lights and chrome are sitting on the side of the road or even worse they're sitting there scratching their heads trying to figure how to back in... Not the most important thing.
Now if I saw one of you Fellers somewhere and you had a stretched-out truck and it was the name brand that I'm not a believer in the belt buckle, I would compliment you on it and appreciate the work that you put into it and have a conversation with you. I wouldn't knock your truck... Unless maybe I knew you a little bit. I mean come on it's always good to kid the Peterbilt Folk... Cuz they're Peterbilt Folk, LOL. How can you not kid them?
And if that's what you like, I respect your opinion. I would hope you can respect mine. But it is fun to Kid the Peterbilt Folk
So one last time I'll say it again. I like show trucks I appreciate the work that people put into their trucks, however being in the Northeast especially I think function is much more important than form... In my opinion which I believe I'm allowed to say that.
Now all of you guys please, please loosen your girdles forget about being a snowflake, forget about life being all about your feelings, whatever works for you is great and I'm happy for you and I hope everything is great.
And thank you to the people that seriously answered my question because I really wondered why people do that and in some cases there is functionality to it.
Now relax and laugh a little. It is better than the stick getting Tighter and Tighter that's stuck you know where.
There are a lot of things happening in this world right now to really be upset about.
Chicken Lights, Chrome, and belt buckles are not one of them.
But that fld that you have is right on. Best work truck of all time. Best working man's truck of all time.
You hit the jackpot. -

I drove this truck for 4 years and found several drivers that thought it was extra long because of the gap between the sleeper and trailer but it wasn’t any longer than the average 387 it just had a smaller sleeper. We also had 45’ and 48’ trailers with the tandems fixed to the rear and would get some that would call us idiots for running with the tandems all the way back but then not say a word after we told them how long they were.

I will say when it comes to trucks if you don’t turn around and look at it at least once every time you walk away from it.......you have the wrong one.
Yea the name of the game is makin money. The name of the game is also doing as you please with your money. Just because a truck is x brand doesn’t make it a money maker or pit. Being loyal or not loyal to one specific brand makes you neither wise or a fool. Sometimes it’s about luck the right place the right time and the right deal.
Peterbilt and CAT have been very good to me through the years. As with anything it must be taken care of in the proper manor to expect good service. Most don’t have any luck out of a CAT for 2 reasons poor mechanics and won’t run one proper.
Show trucks of any sort I have no use for. They are no fun if you don’t work them. As far as form and function well it’s simple. Pride...my truck is 30 years old. Still feeds my family, sees to it that we get most anything we want. That alone makes it family to me. I don’t put fake jewelry on my wife to wear I be God d$&m If I put cheap ### plastic chrome on my Pete. I like a certain amount of character to any truck. You can spend countless dollars and never buy that.
Cow trucks are hard to find these days. Just because ones hooked to a pot doesn’t make it a cow truck. I doubt most will understand thatMidwest Trucker, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 16 others Thank this. -
