Go the 60 miles out of route and use 17/40/25. Better roads, less stop/go in small towns, and if you have an equipment problem you have assistance available.

I personally think 89 in Northern Arizona and Southern Utah really sucks. Drove it one time. In Southern Utah it's a tourist road that winds through the area with all the log cabin style tourist traps. One of those roads where you'll go 20 miles without a place to pass and if your heavy, due to the numerous grades, you'll end up with 50 cars behind you wanting/trying to pass you. In Northern Arizona it is a really poor quality road and will bounce you around constantly. I don't know of a poorer quality US highway I've driven.

Only time I intend to drive it again would be if I had a pick up or delivery on it. I commonly go from Salt Lake City area to Phoenix area. I always take I-15 to Vegas and then US93 & 60 to Phoenix. It's 60 to 70ish more miles, but well worth the extra miles. At least to me.

I've never taken the Vegas route.
    Always stuck with 89.

    60 flat out sucks.
