Yeah, that's the thing right now, a ton of other folks are doing the same....for the same reasons. What state are you looking in? Because of the influx, we and most others we know just lost all our land. Prices are ridiculous right now, so everyone is selling out.....and I mean everyone. Why rent farm ground when you can sell it for 10x what it's worth. We now have neighbors. The folks who own the ground around me are subdividing. They just sold 3 acres of pasture with no trees or water for $175k! 5 years ago you could have bought that for $10-12k So everyone is selling everything they can and or subdividing to cash in. In another 5 years, prolly won't be any farms left to speak of around us. It sucks and it's sad.

Holy cow, I've never even seen a grizzly that big by us! For a Blackie, 250-275lbs is average. If you get a 300lber, you've got bragging rights.

I always wanted to be "free" to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted... didn't want to be responsible for anybody other than myself... for that reason I never had kids... cause I wanted to be on the road, travelling, doing my own thing....
When I was young I did enjoy many things and places.... and also made a lot of money...
But couldn't ever find what I wanted to do in the future, where I wanted to settle...
You say security and stability, yeah.. Those are very important.. and also autonomy and independence...
I hope and pray I don't lose autonomy and independence before I die...

Rough to read about what's going on in the farmlands. I think we need to be careful with the land that feeds, but the zombies from cities don't think about that.

We're in Oregon, 60 or so miles from the California border.

Yeah, place we're looking at is only about 10 miles away.

But, if we were going to leave Oregon, we'd go to Tennessee. Wife grew up in Knoxville.

LOL... No.. I "never" get angry... :biggrin_25512:
And I totally understand you having a hard time "seeing" me as an English teacher at 18 yrs old.:)
I took 7 yrs of English class starting when I was 11 yrs old. And got a job right away when I finished it.
The language company had just opened and needed teachers. A friend of mine introduced me to the owner and I was hired on the spot. :D
I taught basic level. Actually, I was a GREAT teacher. Very devoted. Students loved me. I used to prepare my classes with images, boards, games, music... Problem is, the students were all busy adults and had no time to do homework and pass the tests... :biggrin_25512:
I learned English as it is spoken in England and when I came to the US, had to re-learn the pronunciation, the grammar and more...
My English grammar is pretty good. Scored 98 on a GA college English placement test in 2007. Examiner said that was the highest in the class... :)

Well we're back in lockdown again. Got those fancy vaccine passports coming next week lol.

Fine by me. I was an outcast of society long before this :p

Working on building a home gym right now. Should be money ahead in about 3 months from not having a gym membership. Winning!
