Ever see a cam tube crack all the way around, resulting in the can getting whipped around and smashing the diff filter off when the driver hit the brakes?

I had a car pull out in front of me once where I had to jump on the brakes HARD. Popped the mounting bolts right thru the can. That was on a Boydstun, it had those oddball 24/30 cans, too; they're always fun to find!

I had a failure kinda similar to that on a steer brake chamber. The spring inside eventually wore away the metal of the casing and made a hole. A piece of the spring was actually sticking through it.

    No! But not doubting it.
From the different colors in the damaged holes it is apparent that did not just happen. Probably caught a gator or big rock in a pot hole or something. Then the damage grew from there. Not original but it is uncommon. Kind of like a deer antler destroying a tractor tire. Owner never heard of that and thought they were special. No just unfortunate.

Yep, most likely was mostly broken, but not pulled thru.

I didn't even see it from the angle I do my pretrip. Saw it when I unhooked.

That was a fun roadside patch repair under an OD load to get it 10 minutes up the road to the shop lol.

Telling your age a a bit. They were once common.
That Twain guy once said something about learning from the mistakes of others. Thanks for sharing.

I am slowly accepting the fact that after 37 years, I'm gradually being pushed into the Oldtimers Club.
