Not to much if that kind of crap around here, it is becoming more common in some of the bigger cities. For the most part anything you want to do with your property is fine as long as its legal and meets building code. But if it doesnt meet code, many folks will just build it. Often times by time someone realizes they didnt have a building permit its been 10 or more years, and maybe a different property owner.

    I do see your point.

It would be challenging to justify if I were not looking at doing multiple precision/interlocking cuts of the same pattern in materials that that machine is ideally used for. Stone, ceramic, and glass are all a challenge to hand cut non strait lines in. It's either that type of machine, pay somebody else to run their machine or machines, start manufacturing tiles, or pay some 3rd world kid slave wages to do a low quality job.

I already had the discussion with the wife of "this is our house to be built the way we want it, resale/appraisal value is not on my list of concerns."

Unless the EPA notices. Tho what is legal is calcium flake used by schools across the country to keep their dirt ovals from getting dusty.

Good night all. Got to make an early start tomorrow to buy a small metal lathe some 2,5 hours drive

In my previous post I mentioned folk doing stuff to thier property without the proper permits. A perfect example of that came to mind.

Many years ago a very wealthy farmer bought a bunch of desert land to convert it to farm land, im talking like 10,000 acres. He wanted to put large Pivot Irrigation systems on the entire thing. This style of irrigation requires large agricultural wells. He tried several times to jump through the hoops to get the required permits and was continually denied said permits. Eventually he was fed up with the bureaucracy and decided to just drill the wells himself. He bought a couple well drilling rigs, hired some old boys to run them and proceeded to punch a few hundred wells and install pumps and pivots. Pretty soon some officials discovered what he had done. He said "Fine me." As all he had done legally speaking was fail to get proper permits.

All told, the fines, the drilling rigs, and the drilling crews wages came to a total amount that was LESS than it would have cost to pay a well drilling company to drill all the wells. Now that land is some of the best farm land in the area.

Come on now, those thoughts didn’t come to you in that order. First thought was the Hotrod, next was the justification for such an item. Lol. Sounds like a cool thing to have. Watch your fingers.

I see a General Store in your future. Gas, Beer, ammo, and chain saw blade sharpening. A small auto repair bay, for personal use only. I always wanted one of those old Gas Stations. I still see them, sitting empty, like ghosts. No money in it anymore. We have a couple left in the high rent districts. They do well selling high priced full service gas, repairs and Towing. About the only place that will work anymore.
