I applied for a sysco shuttle driver position and was wondering if anybody here has worked for sysco doing shuttle work and how hard is it driving doubles.

    Thanks in advance

I wouldn't work for Sysco again. Best if it's a union house. Their sticklers on drivecam videos so no Bluetooth. Pulling doubles isn't bad you just have to check and double check all your connections.

Thanks for the info, I don't think I'm going to take the job offer, no bluetooth and driver facing cam gets annoying after a while.

We had great benefits but they were just always messing with drivers. Very high turnover rate and lots of injuries.

From my experience working at Sysco and US foods

    1. Shuttle driver is a bidding position; they're delivery drivers just like everyone else

    2. You're going to need about 25-30 years of seniority to be able to do it consistently. Good luck with that; start pushing groceries now.

Some divisions the shuttle driver is a whole different job you have to apply for it. Your seniority goes with you and you bid your depart time but it's possible to walk in off the street and get a shuttle job if none of the delivery guys want it.

People always say that, but not every location is like that. When I worked for US Foods, nobody bid on those jobs because the pay was a few dollars less per hour and there was almost no OT. We hired a shuttle driver off the street when I was there. He had previously been a delivery driver for Coke, so it was still a huge upgrade for him.

Slightly off topic but I didn't feel it was worth starting a new thread for.

I have a virtual interview with Sysco next week, anything I should know, do, not do, ask etc? I plan on asking about pay, raises, training, time off...this will be my first CDL interview. The woman on the phone said it's for a local delivery route, home nightly.

The first question that needs to be asked from you: Do you know if this is a union or a non union position.

DO NOT work for a non union sysco. I've been at a Union Sysco, a non-union Sysco, and a union US foods. Trust me.
