Just wondering if this labor shortage is making it harder for the megas to get bus fulls of suckers every week willing to sign a contract into modern day indentured servitude and willing to agree to a year or more of life in a moving sweatshop?
Can Megas still recruit in the Covid Era

Probably. As P.T. Barnum said, “There's a sucker born every minute.”
Kyle G., Bean Jr. and Shackdaddy Thank this. -
Good times or bad times, a mega can never recruit enough. It’s how they grow share. Can they recruit enough now to maintain share during times that people don’t want to work? Most likely the better, stronger ones are finding ways to do that.
Shackdaddy Thanks this. -
I did a one day orientation with Knight last August, there were 4 drivers there, including me. All of them were rehires. Apparently, I'm not good enough for Knight anymore....lol, as they passed on my application just a few months ago.

Just seems you can make the same delivering pizza as working a mega right now.

But what are megas paying nowadays?
I just went to Swifts website they are guaranteeing 1k gross per week. So that's the bare minimum.
I went to Prime's website. They are paying $0.48 CPM starting out for solo drivers.
I don't think many megas are paying $600-$700 gross per week anymore. Megas have had to raise the pay and working conditions too, just like everybody else. And just like everybody else they are having a hard time attracting employees too, which will mean pay and working conditions will continue to increase (which is a GOOD thing for drivers when the pay and working conditions increase across the industry). -
1k a week really isn’t that great for 70 hrs of work. Don’t think that’ll attract as many as it once did especially with the hyper inflation and high home cost.

I guess I can’t speak for everyone else, but I did the mega thing for my first year, and yeah I got paid crap, but I did it for the experience not the money.
RoadShade, ncmickey, Canadianhauler21 and 4 others Thank this.
