Thanks, I'm pre diabetic and don't have any symptoms. Hope to avoid that bullet all together with better eating and weight loss.

Starving yourself will hurt you more than it's worth. 30 pounds in a month could very well put you in the hospital. It's recommended to lose only 2 pounds per week. Losing weight is more than numbers on a scale. You have to learn how to eat properly with a caloric intake that matches your activity level. Eat about 2k per day and burn about 500/day via exercise and physical activities you enjoy.

Losing 30 lbs in a month will absolutely not put most people in the hospital.
Edit: especially people who start obese.

If you're obese than it might be "safe" but most people aren't obese. 30 pounds in a month for the average overweight American isn't safe, recommended nor healthy. A simple Internet search can verify that. I lost 70 pounds in about a year by learning how to eat and exercising. I researched it heavily and spoke to many professionals along the way.

That might be true on the standard American diet. People who do keto and start burning fat for energy can see losses of 2+ pounds per day and be totally healthy.

You are right that starving yourself isn’t healthy. But cutting out carbs and sugar along with intermittent fasting can produce huge losses.

No magic diet works. It's simply burn more calories then you take in, you will lose weight. Take in more calories then you burn, you will gain weight.

That is indeed been the standard diet advice for nearly 50 years. And it is correct.
However, following this standard diet advice has brought this country nearly to it’s knees with obesity numbers around 30% of the population.

For a diet to work, it has to be effective, practical, and emotionally sustainable. Unless you deal with the appetite component of dieting — by controlling it — a diet turns into perpetual starvation. Only those with the highest levels of self control achieve success if they are perpetually feeling hunger.

That is why low carb / keto / paleo / carnivore / south beach / Atkins all work so well. Appetite is reduced through the reduction of low blood sugar events. When people aren’t hungry, they aren’t prone to eating, let alone over eating.

The end result is the same: reduced calorie intake results in weight loss. The difference is in sustainability and effort, aside from the huge health benefits of the low carb diets.

When people start Keto and any other type of VLC type diets they lose a ton of scale weight in the beginning but it's not fat, it's water they're losing. Once a person makes it officially into ketosis (usually checked with urine keytone strips) than the fat starts to go but it's not a miracle worker like you think. Even if they're obese.

Fast carbs have been shown to literally be addictive. Once the blood sugar levels start to drop your body demands replenishment.

Like you I have a ton of weight I need to loose. I gained 70lbs waiting for a hip replacement, I lost a bunch after my hip replacement but have put half back on. I've been home for a few weeks now, I'm changing companies to stay closer to home, but also get dedicated so I can try to get some routine, during this I herniated a disc in my lower back. Had a come to Jesus meeting with my doc, so... all bread, potatoes, and anything else white is now a memory.
    Down 8lbs first week.
16hr fast, nothing after 8pm, or before 12noon except black coffee. Keep letting us know how your doing.
    Good luck driver!!
