Oh and the “we’re a family” thing?!? Ha! Now you may form family like bonds with other drivers at your company etc, but if the company is tryin to sell that? It’s all smoke a mirrors. You ain’t their family. Rub them the wrong way and you’ll quickly find out too. It’s all a big gimmick to make you feel “guilty” and work for less. Keep it business is business, be professional and expect the same from them. None of they “buddy pal ole friend” crap. It’s all the psychological garage. Lol

as a trucker YOU are your own commodity! Never forget that! So are they as a company. You think they take less? Heck no! Neither should you.

If you need 15 days off, take it. Simply clean out your truck and tell them you will be back in 16 days. They don't own you. If they say that is a defacto 'quit' on your part, reapply halfway through your 2 weeks off. Any driver with a clean record can get a driving job anywhere anytime.

biggest mistake was being out there for 5 months....talking about inducing burnout. Move on and be smarter about the time you have here.

Experience has showed these OTR companies that the longer your off the treadmill, the less chance of getting back on. My company had 7 days out 1 day off up to 5days.
Like others suggested just tell them when you get back when you will return. Or call them from home & push out your return. What are they gonna do? Nothing if they have the truck. If they can get someone to leave home work 7 days for 1 day off up to 14hrs a day with no OT their not gonna rock the boat. They got a sweet deal.

You could try manning transfer out of Blaine MN i when I was there and stayed out 5 to 6 weeks they would let me have a weeks off and I live all the way down in Arkansas. The next company you go to you should ask recruiting about doing that beforehand and you will find a decent company that will allow you to earn days off.I started at maverick and they used to do it but they aren't a very good company they like to give to many saftey points .

If you are willing to stay out 5 or 6 weeks only for a day or two off, you are your own worst enemy.

And no, don't give me that "it's just trucking" BS.

It keeps happening because you and the rest of the drivers in the industry keep tolerating it.

loose leafs what's your issue with Magnum? Have you driven for them? I look at them because they offer better hometime than most companies out there and their running area seems better than many as well.

A friend of mine got his CDL through Wilson back in October 2019 and he hasn't had any issue with home time. They tell you up front about the 5 day max but he is consistently home 6 or more days at a time every 5 to 6 weeks (his choice). He has a great relationship with his manager and he gets the loads where they need to be every time without issue or bending metal.

From the several drivers present and former on here if you stay out 3 weeks you can take 5 or 6 days off. They have posted they work with the drivers for time off within reason. To me that's a benefit.
