Was there the last time I passed bout this time last year.
Not a whole lot of call for me to be on 20 right there, but I haven't heard anyone saying it's closed yet.

    Hi everyone,
I haven't read all of the posts yet but...
I worked at Sturbridge isle and lived only a mile away! It was a beautiful place, it had a high-end gift shop on the top floor. The main floor had a regular gift shop with necessities, clothing and boots. (I actually meet my now husband there). There was also a restaurant that wasn't half bad! Also on the mainfloor were lots of telephones for drivers to call home, they were in little cubicles for some privacy. A TV room, game room.
Down stairs there was a candy shop (I used to make the fudge)ice cream shop, deli and then there were showers and a laundry room. They had plans of putting a hotel up too!! Of course there were 2 other buildings gas stations one for cars and one for the trucks. The outdoor seating with tables next to the lake was really beautiful! As someone who lived rather close and lost my job when the town put them out of business, it was a sad day, we were all mad at the town!! We went to work and everything was chained up!! I say for sure it was more the actual politicians then the people who lived near by. We appreciated the business and the jobs. Most importantly we knew how important the truck drivers were and are! Some people think it just shows up on the shelves and are clueless how it got there!! Thank you to all the truck drivers out there especially my brother in law Darin!!

What kind of politicians would force the Sturbridge Travel Center to close and allow Pilot to buy it and destroy a beautiful travel center into what it is today, a crap hole. Sounds like someone got greased pockets.

The kind that have their hand out for a payoff and the owner's didn't want to play ball. Then Pilot comes along and see's payoff as a part of doing business and only uses the rear area, not the main building.

    mjd4277 and navypoppop Thank this.
