Cutting in line to unload when you are told to, and the backlash.

Possibly get a phone number of whoever gives you permission to cut line . This way the other guy can argue with them instead . When I hauled grain sometimes I’d get a load of mash for whiskey in winter I’d call guy as I arrived at plant and he would escort me to be loaded right away bypassing line up . The customer wanted a team truck or single driver loaded early in the morning so driver could make delivery on one sleep .It made unloading easier if sides didn’t partially freeze . Guys in the line up don’t know there’s a reason you cut line . My guess is they are paid a straight loading fee not hourly like you .

 

Sometimes I have to cut in line but the plant has my back and most of the other trucks know it.
If the plant doesn’t get me in and unload their holding tank then the plant shutdown. And everyone is screwed.

Just call your person of contact at the plant when you arrive and ask them to escort you in .
If your point of contact doesn’t want to do that just tell them that the last two places you delivered the other drivers waiting in line got very confrontational and physically threatened you .

and if they want you to bypass the line , they are gonna have to have the guy in the guard shack escort you to the front of the line .
Otherwise you’re just gonna wait in line with all the other trucks .

or tell the other drivers on the CB that you have a different chemical that the plant needs RIGHT NOW and you’re cutting in front of them because the plant needs the product immediately.

 

Or there will be a massive explosion that will level the entire town if I don’t unload this stabilizing fluid ASAP!

 

Do you promise it will take all of Kaukauna? If so, wait in line.

 

It's odd that if a company you are hauling for, wants you to cut into line, they don't have someone out there directing traffic, visibly letting the other drivers ahead of you, see that you're supposed to be cutting in. The fault isn't yours, but lands directly on this fly by night operation you have been stuck hauling for, very unprofessional on their part.

 

The the yard rats should be out there directing traffic

 

I run into something similar at the warehouse we run out of.
We have specific doors that are assigned to my company based on the runs and where they deliver. Sometimes, mostly because outside drivers can't read, an OTR truck will try and use one of our doors, When we see that happen most of the time simply pointing out they are in the wrong door they will move.the truck to the right door.

We did have one time the driver refused to move. So got a manager from the warehouse, and after driver still refused to move called the police. Still refused to move so he got arrested for trespassing and his unloaded truck towed. All because he didn't want to move over a few doors.....

Basically my point is let the yard workers deal with other drivers. It's their show after all.

 

Biting them works for me.
