Well I'm officially retired. I made the decision and pulled the trigger. Looking forward to it, but now I'm selling my truck and trailer. I thought I would try something different and avoid the regular selling outlets for commercial equipment and I put them on Craigslist. 2019 KW T680 and 2019 Utility reefer with 245,000 miles on both. Asking price $210,000, and I paid $240,000 for them both new 3 years ago. The response was overwhelming. A guy just gave me $5,000 cash as a deposit and will have it paid by the end of the week.

Just curious if it would be better for me to remove my company graphics from the tractor or let them do it? If I do it, does a heat gun loosen decals? I've sold plenty of personal vehicles, but never a commercial one. I guess the title transfer works just like a car, sign the pink slips, write in new owner's info and mail it to DMV? Guess I'll need to deactivate my authority as well.

If it’s newer vinyl that was printed (not the old style of layering different colors on top of each other) you might be able to pull it off without leaving any glue residue of the place that did it used a good quality vinyl. When I pulled the stripe off my truck and redid the lettering it just peeled right off with nothing left behind.

Remove it. Absolutely. Don't release the truck with your company markings on it.
BTW. What a deal! Most likely you won't get another chance like that for a long time.

Steve, maybe you should sell your MC# too instead of closing? I heard that's something that can be sold too. Not sure how to go about it but maybe someone can explain?

Thanks Joe. As soon as I starting reading here that people are starting to get their new trucks after waiting so long or getting delivery dates, I figured it was time to sell mine before the market flipped on used equipment. Looks like it paid off.

Not sure if it's possible. I've heard some on TTR say you can while others say you can't. Mine is only 3 years old, so it probably isn't worth much anyway.

    Congratulations. That’s a huge sale!

100% remove them. All of them.

The first 5 vans I sold a few years ago, I assumed out of pride that they would remove the lettering. Nope, for the next two years I fielded complaints about speeding and crazy driving from white Volvo’s pulling my company trailers. It was a huge mistake. Now, I bought a heat gun from Lowe’s and it’s not too bad to do.

Yeah I figured that was probably the best thing to do. That's all I need is my good name out there wreaking havoc.
