I just purchased a 2007 kw t600 with a c15 acert. First time owning a cat. What kinds of issues am I looking forward to? What do I need to be watching out for? It has 1.4 on the clock and the rebuild was 400 ago.
    Thanks

It'll pass just about anything on the highway but a fuel pump. Have the overhead adjusted about every 100k and other normal maintenance. Should give you dependable service.

Good to blow out the gasket between the inside turbo and manifold flange every few years or so. Also watch the #6 area on the exhaust for leaks when (not if) a stud breaks. That recent an overhaul, you should already have the latest 5th or 6th revision rocker and IAC studs, so not likely to have trouble there.

Otherwise, if a previous owner hasn't already installed a stainless HVAC box, you will be soon. I heard at a lunch counter you should go with the spendy one made in Massachusetts, not the cheaper Chinesium ones. The USA made fits better and has all the mounting points in perfect position that the other doesn't.

Wonder how it did on the dyno?

the one (465k on the clock) I had turned out to be 62% of its rated hp and even after going through it, it gained three points and that was all.

I haven’t picked up the truck yet it’s getting a door painted and detailed. I’ll let y’all know on more of the specifics and pics when the truck is sitting ready to roll

    You are correct, I misstated.

    I don't know why I said Massachusetts.

ETA: Maybe there was another one in MA. I know Shoreline was the most expensive but very clearly the best made, and in MI.

Being a smart guy, the $600 gap between best and probably needs some fitting seemed to hard to justify for me when shopping. I ordered one from an outfit in BC, Canada. Not only was it more struggle than I counted on, country of origin was China and got smacked with over $200 import duty, closing the price gap substantially.

In hindsight, I'd have been far better off just buying Shoreline's product, and would recommend that just from their online information, even though I never bought theirs.

    Shoreline is stainless
    Jemini is aluminum, aluminum corrodes

my factory box actually still isn’t in horrible shape but I’ll do the upgrade when it’s time

    RedForeman Thanks this.

As mentioned , they had issues with rocker arms breaking and taking out the Jake head. They’re were updated versions through the years so you should be ok (as mentioned) sounds like you blew an engine when it happens though.....lol
Exhaust manifold behind turbo prone to breaking studs and cracking. I was also told to always run the red extended coolant instead of standard green coolant as it has something in it that stops cavitation in the cylinder liners causing them to crack . The high pressure turbo was prone to failing when they first came out , but I think they solved that issue to. Also to change a water pump is twice the cost of just about any other truck due to the labor involved, you have to remove the turbos to get to it . I know people who did the single turbo conversion with the stainless manifold and it increased power , fuel economy and reliability. It’s a little expensive though. About 5 years ago it was about $10k , I don’t know what it would cost today though. I’d take that engine over any
Cummins ISX 2008 or later , very failure prone engines . Our current trucks have Cummins 565 X15 engines and do far have proven very reliable and pull really good.
