I'm about to pay off my truck. I'll have around 415,000 miles on it. I bought it new. I've had regular overheads done and oil changes but that's about it. My question is simply: what things should I be regularly getting done to the truck that might increase it's life expectancy? I'm a mechanical layman so be gentle. I'm here to learn as much as possible. Now that it's out of warranty and all mine I'm feeling some jitters. It does have an tripac apu so I haven't had to idle much. Thanks for your time.

Clean the soot off the egr differential pressure sensor.
Replace the def pump filter, def injector intake filter screen.
Save up $15,000 or so for when the One-Box wears out around 750,000 miles.

Clean Service & Maintain the Emission System as If Your Business Depends On It..(Which It Does) The More anal you are, about this the Longer it Should Last...

Order a brand new one tomorrow and keep doing what you’ve been doing. Hope like hell it doesn’t fall apart over the next year you wait to get the new one in.

Now this I don't buy because I know people who are buying my exact truck at 500000 miles for 45000 dollars and running successfully and paying it off and are still running. But we'll see. She runs like a champ so far.

Even if you are not a mechanic, getting a copy of the service manual(s) for this truck would answer all of your maintenance questions. They are available from Freightliner in either CD form, or you may have to pay a small fee to get access to them on their website. Most of the service intervals are guidelines for "average" use. You will adjust them higher or lower depending on the specifics of your operation. It is a good place to start.
The truck you see in the avatar I also purchased new in 2000. I just sold it with 2 million miles on it, with miles left in it. Granted it didn't have emission equipment on it, but that is irrelevant. It might cost you more to maintain your truck, but properly cared for you can make your truck last far longer than the average fleet vehicle.
    Good Luck.

. You better be putting money aside to replace the 1box, it will go out eventually and costs close to 20k to replace in today’s world, and oh by the way there is a critical shortage of those right now as well.
