I am from Long Island NY and passed my road test on 8 December 2020 on my first attempt. I have a K restriction and only can drive in NY but I wanted to drive OTR so this April I went to get the NY DOT exam. I am 58 years old and in perfect shape. No back issues or diabetes.
12 years ago I was prescribed the drug clonozepam and it shows up when the Dr. checks the online report. In NY they just type in your name and any prescription drug you are taking show up. The Dr. said that the 0.5 milligram 4x per day (2 mgs) was to high and would not pass me unless the Dr. that prescribed it wrote a signed statement that it has no effect on my driving. Because of the liability my Dr. would not do it.
Since April I have been weening myself off of the clonozepam and take just 1mg per day total. 0.5 in the morning and 0.5 at night before bed.
I have an appointment for a NY DOT exam on next month on 4 November. I hope cutting the dose in half works. I am going to a different Dr. this time then last time. Do you think I have a chance?

Get your physical in Jersey or another border state! Benzos are not good for drivers! Be careful hand!
MOBee Thanks this. -

You self lower dosing means nothing. Your doctor needs to lower it and right a letter. Otherwise your script is the same.
-
Now the script says 0.5mg 2x per day and the count is 60 pills.
I hope the DOT Dr. passes me. That is a very low dose. -
-
What condition are you taking the medication for?
