Does that make any sense to you? A truck that wasn't designed for aerodynamics gets just as good fuel mileage as "the most aerodynamic truck ever built by Kenworth"? Have all the manufacturers been wasting a fortune designing areo trucks for the last 40 years and lying to us about the fuel savings?

Not a fair comparison for me cuz I wouldn't give you $20 for a new Volvo but I would pay the same for a 20 year old T600 as your 379 if a thing were comparable.

About half the price of a new one...if you can even get one in the next year.

I think I would take that article with a grain of salt. If this is accurate and all thigs comparable paccar has pissed a lot of money away designing areo trucks.
That .2mpg is about $1800/yr at 3.50/us gal.

In all fairness i think the new model 680 is a good 1 mpg- 2mpg better on fuel then the 990. Think 990 is around 7 the new 680 around 9 depending on variables or course

22% increase in fuel mileage is pretty incredible if that is true. I wonder what the difference is with super B weights (140,000lb).

Up to a year ago l was working alongside modern trucks at contrans flatbed Paccars, Detroit's and Navistar's they had all the fuel mileage tricks like automatics and wide base single tires. That being said they had a fuel mileage chart on the wall and the fuel mileage for the heavy board was no screaming ____. Meaning it was no better than my worn out 21 year CAT powered Pete. 5 to 6 Canadian mpg was the average. Never above 7. Thats hauling multi axles. Mix of flats and roll-tites doing local and regional work.

Sounds about right. I get 4.1mpg loaded at full gross weight, and average 5.1mpg over the course of a week, half loaded and half empty. 13L 500hp

I pull turnpikes (100-145Klbs) 132ft long, 34 tires on the ground. I get 5.5-6.0mpg US in the summer (depends on the wind more than anything), and winter it drops to 5-6.0mpg US depending on the wind/cold lol (the winter blend knocks off .3 tenths normally). 2019 Volvo 760 D13, 500/1850, IShift, 3:36 11R22.5's, Lug Tires.
