Wish I could thank this twice. Thank you very much for sharing. Sounds very much like my world. Don’t be a stranger around here.

And so true about these jobs aren’t posted around all the usual spots. We don’t have some marketing or recruiting department. lol.

    We are?

Let's say a driver makes 1000 a week before taxes. He's on duty 70 hours . That's 52 grand a year. Most would say that's a decent wage for someone who holds a steering wheel 10 hours a day.

1000/70=14.28/hr. If you take into consideration overtime pay for the last 30 hours, we make even less than that.

I just saw a sign at a McDonalds in Hamburg PA that they are starting burger flippers there at 15/hr. That burger flipper goes home to his own bed, his own home and his home cooked food every night. We don't.

No, we are not paid well, we are paid HORRIBLY for what we have to sacrifice to do this job. Only those who love the congested roads and being away from home enjoy this work.

He's talking about take home pay, which is confusing because everyone's deductions are different.

With my few years of experience I gross over 2k a week driving my full clock.

I don't always get that much driving, that's just the nature of the beast though.

Additionally I get a holiday mileage bonus, and an additional 0.06 per mile hauling Walmart loads to stores. Right now, that's all I am doing.

So yeah, I'm making pretty good. Considerably more than just 1,000 per week.

With my holiday/walmart bonus pays its like 0.80 per mile, which is pretty #### good for a company driver. The Walmarts now pay $30.00 for the first stop also.

Its pretty good. Of course I have some complaints, but pay not being one of them.

    I average $850 a week after taxes

My company is making money hand over fist... My role alone in the company nets 16 Million a year. As a commercial driver with a Class B CDL in the hazardous waste industry with 5 years and 300,000 miles experience driving in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia… I mean driving a truck in that area is the equivalent of walking through a minefield yet I have no accidents and no violations

I spoke up and professionally stated that I’m not accepting the usual baby boomer bs “good job” 3% raise and asked for $5.72 or 26% from the $22.28/hr I’m making now to $28/hr

There’s 4 jobs I highly qualify for that’s paying $30.xx-$36.88 along with me investing $4,300 in myself to get my Class A

Tell me why I get back to the office…. There’s evidence the company is actively looking for my replacement along with evidence to support denying me the raise I asked for a

F$&! Them I’m out!…. Every late model Range Rover, Gwagons and bimmers in the reserve parking lot and I can’t get shy a $6 raise

    Here’s some advise.

Take the risk open your own, grow it and make millions to drive a GWagon.

yeah yeah I get the rhetoric

but what they’re NOT going to do is complain about retaining labor AND cheap out on fair and livable wages in the same breath… I’m no socialist… I have no issues putting on my work boots and putting in WORK but let’s not pretend this has not been an issue for years

You don't have to invest your own money, you just have to find a company that cares as much about the workers as they do the office personnel.
