According to the U.S. Dept of Labor there is no shortage of drivers in the trucking industry. That is a myh perpetuated my the ATA and TCA in order to try to bring younger and also foreign drivers into their companies. Last year there were over 500,000 new CDLs issued. The ATA companies have a 95% + annual turnover rate. Why? Low pay and poor working conditions, Out and out lies told to new recruits and their pushing of their phony Lease to own programs. Their problem is a turnover problem. Can you imagine any other industry that would hire 1000 drivers a year and only manage to hold on to 50 of them. They would find the problem and fix it, pronto. Why doesn't the ATA companies fix this. Because their business model is such that it is cheaper to hire, rain get what they can out of people while paying them crap wages.
There is no shortage. Now right now there IS a slight problem with the layed off guys not want to get off unemployment but when that extra $600 a week stops that will change.

K&B obviously has an office schill here to try and debunk facts.... the fact is ...k&b is a bottom of the barrel trash heap....if they weren’t they flood emails with recruiting bs...I even went to the point of demanding them stop flooding my emails from a particular fool there and that the next email that comes after my demand to stop will be sent to my atty...they don’t care...they threaten drivers livelihood on a regular basis...

That being said, I’m sure K&B works for some people but being harassed and micromanaged doesn’t appeal to most drivers. I’m pretty sure K&B has a pretty decent turnover rate due to the way they treat their drivers. Money only goes so far and doesn’t justify poor treatment. There are plenty of companies out there who pay just as good or better than K&B who don’t micromanage and harass their drivers. There’s one caveat though, they usually don’t advertise because they don’t need to. Usually these companies only hire drivers because of drivers retiring, company expansion or something like that. To me, any company that has to have a whole recruiting department and pushes thru a large number of drivers every week is doing something wrong. To me that says we have a lot of money to spend on bringing in new drivers but we don’t want to spend money on keeping our good drivers who are tried and true and make us money on a consistent basis and who are likely to retire with us if we treat them right.Still undecided, Walt NJ, jeff18 and 3 others Thank this. -
