Looks like remodeling/refreshing mostly. Lipstick on a pig comes to mind. Not sure if this is enough to make them favorable again.

They maxed out their debt by borrowing $200 million last December. They just started upgrading facilities in August. They put out a press release showing them painting walls and putting in leather chairs to the TV room (as if that fixes things).
I look at reports of people advising to invest in TA and inevitably they have zero truck driving knowledge and they have open call option positions they’re trying to support. The report will give fukakda info like “DEF used to only be available in every other lane, but TA is now making it available in *every* lane which should have a dramatic impact on earnings”, ignoring that if a driver needs DEF they aren’t going to skip fueling, they would just line up in a DEF lane before these “revolutionary” changes are made. White collar idiocy.
Their stock price is up in the past two months but no fundamental changes have been made.
Travel Centers of America is failing and will declare bankruptcy within five years.D.Tibbitt, drvrtech77 and jason6541 Thank this. -
How about upgrading the sit-down toilet privacy. The only TA I have ever seen with full privacy doors similar to Loves/Pilot/FlyingJ is the one out in eastern Oregon.

It doesn’t matter how much remodeling, if they do if they don’t improve on their service they’re going to be extinct.

The headline of the article draws you in. Then you see what the plan is paint, chairs, etc. The showers look nice. Notice they skimmed over what the plan is for parking. They just briefly mentioned it.
@scottied67 I agree. The gaps in the stalls are ridiculous. I never use TA except for an emergency and i always forget about that until it’s too late.Deadwood, D.Tibbitt, scottied67 and 2 others Thank this. -
I love the fuel discount at TA and Petro...don't really care much about the rest...it's a truck stop. However, Love's is giving me a discount now that is making me look their way. Too bad their discount is always on top of the highest prices around. They took a play from Pilot/Flying J's playbook: offer a discount and jack up the price to cover the discount.

Probably 75% of those locations were Union 76's built in the 1960's and 1970's. If they don't bulldoze the building and start all over again it will be meaningless.
How would you like to be the contractor who is trying for the 6th time to fix the showers, or restaurant area, or store? Anyone who bids on it would just have to say "time and materials". There is no way they can predict the shoddy stuff they are going to find behind that drywall.....mitmaks, Deadwood, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this. -
The fuel discounts never made sense to me.
Just drop your pump price lower than the others, and do it for everyone.
Keep everything clean 24/7, and have great food.
Since people seem to like to pee all over, don't pave the lot, gravel absorbs the urine better.
And put them far enough out of city limits that land is cheaper. Buy a large acreage, and have ample parking, since it seems that I read all the time about parking lots are to small. Also fuel pumps are relatively cheap, put more in so there isn't a long wait.BennysPennys, mitmaks, navypoppop and 4 others Thank this. -
"Priority initiative," "improving guest experience," "continues to advance its successful transformation plan," yada, yada, yada.
That corporate-speak is all I need to see, to know it's B/S.
