Ok I bought my first truck used 2012 kw t660 with a paccar 13speed 3.42 Spicer rears 600,000 miles on it. Paid it off 20 months later and I had 840,000 on it not I'm rebuilding it should be done Wednesday or Monday. All that to say the KW has been great their built to a higher lever of quality in my honest opinion.
But you can always get a signature 600 cummins and slap it in that's going to give you all the power you need to spin 3.42 rears with 100k on the deck. But if you like cats get a 6nz or a 3406b and get the 18liter rebuild upgrade kit if I had new truck money that's what I would do.. build my own my way how I need it. Then throw a tag axle in and stretch it a foot or two for the tag.

Oh well KW in that case not sure what daycab but the w990 I think or something like that has the new paccar with good horsepower ratings but I've never driven one so can't say I know it's much better.. my paccar epa 10 is at 840,000 and it's held together well if I had no other option I would buy one in a new truck

But a tri-drive is great. Especially when you have 6 sets of triples locked up and digging.

The trailers we pull, are not designed to be pulled by a tri drive, except for one of them. We do well, running tandems, and not going to throw in a pair of tri drives, when the rest are all tandems. We have 3, and 5 axle trailers, that includes the Super B, which is going to be up for sale shortly after we take over. They are the least used trailer(s) we have, by a large margin.

I almost went T880, but ended up in the old 800. I'm an old soul, in middle age body.

Depends on who you ask. ;)

During a two plus hour radio conversation last year, with 4 of us discussing what constitutes middle age, the oldest fellow proceeded to tell us, age has only 3 groupings. Birth to 29 is young, 30 to 59 middle age, 60 plus is old. We had some good laughs that trip. He was 64, and we just agreed to disagree. I'm fine with being described as middle age. My baby sister is 29, told her to enjoy the last year being young, soon she will be middle aged.

I've had some great discussions on the radio over the years. Typically the youngest, and often the only woman, my views are often different than others. A few times, I even swayed how others see a topic, sometimes they sway my view. When you have hours on logging roads without a lot of traffic on it, mostly just us, we tend to talk about whatever. It has helped me better understand why papa thinks the way he does. That old codger is very steadfast in his thoughts, and nothing will change his mind. But anyone over 50 who still gets up every morning, and climbs into a truck, gets some instantaneous respect from me, for just doing so. No matter how strongly I may disagree with them, I don't just tell them what a sorry excuse for a human they are, but let them rant on a bit. They have earned a bit of leeway after 30 years behind the wheel. Doesn't matter who you are, it wears you down over time. I already have plans for a big party for myself when I hit 20 years driving. Call me shallow for throwing myself a party, but I am still going to do it. Throwing my sister a party when she rolls over 20 years driving also. Papa has put up with idiots on the road for 43 years of trucking, he is understandably a wee bit grumpy.
