Maybe I'm just getting old, but as a mentor, it's always baffling observing the work ethic of a lot of the students under the age of 25.
It's always "when do I get paid" or when they are in the sleeper supposed to be getting sleep, but instead they are on their phone talking to their girlfriends for hours and when their clock resets and it's their turn to drive, some of them say "I'm too tired to drive, let me sleep for a little while longer". A lot of them don't want to practice backing and will tell me to back it in because it's too hard with no will to even keep trying even when I am outside of the truck instructing them on how to back.
One kid 23 years old just quit after 5 days showing no work ethic saying that it's too hard and he was going back to his parents house to his old job of delivering pizzas. Every single time he was in the sleeper, he was on his phone for hours. He wasn't even trying to make an effort.
What is the problem with young adults these days? Not all of them, but a good bit of them.
What happened to good old fashioned work ethic?
Is it just me or are young adults under the age of 25 just plain lazy?

it's the millennial generation that likes to pass off thier responsibilities to others, and expect to get a paycheck for it.
it comes from thier equally lazy-arsed parents who had no time to raise them as they were busy playing tennis, or golf, or self involved in thier own messed up heads.
what's coming now, are the "zoomies"...the children of these lazy millennials.....
let's hope the Aliens come on down and take all of them away some day.....and turn them all into slaves digging on another planet for the fuel the Alien ships need.Bizzarrogeorge, meekluvsq, misterG and 10 others Thank this. -

It’s just you I think the percentage of lazy people doesn’t change much between generations.

For what it’s worth, this isn’t a new problem. Heck, I didn’t get a real work ethic myself until I had loafed my way through a few jobs in my early 20s, and that was 40 years ago!
The smart ones will figure it out quickly, and the less than smart ones will mostly figure it out eventually. -
The youngest Millennials are now 25. Its the Centennials (Gen Z) that are the young ones now.
And as a middle aged Millennial, I agree some of these Gen Z children need a dose of work ethic. But so do some in the older generations as well.Last edited: Nov 28, 2021
