What's the difference in range for SSB on a CB radio. How many miles will you get using a radio with SSB? What are the advantages to just sticking with the 40 A.M. channels?

I can't tell you for shure on CB but On 10 meters it is about 1.5:1
EVEN though I have a CB SSB radio 99% of the time i'm on AM.

When you lissen on 10 meters you will hear almost no AM in fact there is more FM than AM stations.
SSB is just better and takes up less room ....

How many miles one can get out depends on lots of variables to include, but not limited to; terrain, how good of antenna you're using, how good of an antenna the other party is using, how tall up in the air your antennas are and also how tall up in the air the receiving party's antennas are, weather conditions, , if skip is rolling or not, any type of interference, etc.

As a rule, SSB is a more efficient way of getting out. I've heard people say they could talk to someone 20 miles easy whereas when they flipped back to AM that same person they could only talk to for maybe 5 miles.

SSB and CW are the best modes for long range DX no matter what band .....
I work SSB even on 432 MHZ along with FM simplex. You will not even find AM on many bands anymore.

Go read the site,it explains alot!

If you want to talk 20 to 100 miles pretty much any day of the week or around the world when the DX is strong then get a SSB radio. Make sure it is set up to be clean and completly on frequency, this means no mod kits and making sure that the final bais are set to be dead on. A RCI 2970DX or 2950DX are some of the best radios for SSB use on the market today.

On AM,even with 100 watts you are lucky to get out 20 miles on a good day,on that same day a 100 watts would get you out across the state on SSB!

On SSB I'm not sure there's a limit as to how far you can talk when DX is rolling....On my Cobra 2000 GTL Base, I have talked over 9000 miles barefoot on SSB from Dallas to Australia...

It's just a Mother Nature Deal, and a great big ol' Antenna!

That was unnecessary and extremely rude. Not sure what your motive is, but perhaps you should find somewhere or somehow else to carry it out.
