While the trans is out clutch, throw out, input shaft and bearing, rear motor mounts also, much easier to do when the trans is out, unless any of it was just done, it's just parts, and depending on how bad its leaking, you may HAVE to do it.

Rear crank seal is a big job, the transmission has to be dropped. A sleeve can be put on the front crank. But both jobs the TA doesn't do.

I personally don't know their capabilities as a shop. But the general consensus around here is they wouldn't even trust TA to change their oil.

That being said, would you trust TA to use new bolts when they tighten a U-joint strap? Because they're going to be pulling down drivelines to get to your rear main seal, and that's just the tip of the iceberg on what they'll need to mess with. What happens when they drain your tranny to remove the cooler lines, but forget to fill it with fluid? Maybe they'll warranty it, but what about the downtime, being stranded, and tow truck, and all the headache? This is the territory of "serious" mechanic work.

Good work costs time and money.

Shoddy work costs more time and money in the long run.

Lot's of spring shops won't even reuse u bolts. I wouldn't expect a TA to even know that.

Someone quoted me 4k as the tranny is a killer. Not sure if he included clutch and all other parts but that’s what he said. I walked away.

interesting a rear main seal on a car is about $1200 but semis is 3 times the amount. Why?

    feldsforever and Rideandrepair Thank this.

4K sounds about right to rebuild with labor.
