Texas AG exemption

Shipper tried to load my trailer over width. Bottom crates in photo are 106”. Raised objection with them and they tried to get me to take it as loaded as “it’s wood, therefore it’s a commodity and doesn’t have to conform to normal regs”. I raised Cain about it and amazingly TQL backed me up. They took off one row and shipped 2/3 of the load, 96 instead of 144 crates fir original rate. I’ve hauled milk from farm to dairy and in my state there is like a 7% variance allowed in weight but I’ve never come across this situation. Load was TX to OH

 

I don’t think divisible or not has much to do with AG exemption.

Logs are divisible but are certainly over length many times

 

Please read what I said. Blades have nothing to do with an AG exemption . The milk loads are divisible, log loads are divisible, this load is divisible. They’re shipping these in there own trucks throughout TX. I saw two pull out while I was sitting there. We’re not talking over width permit load here. I’m wondering how they’re doing it.

The broker didn’t say it was ok, please read more carefully. The broker said no once I let them know it was 106”. The load was pared down and shipped. AG exempt loads are not permit loads. You’re conflating two different things

 

Which I wanted no part of. In MI and OH where I hauled milk you could go 85,600 on a five axle combo as long as you’re going from farm to processer. Similarly, hay bales are not subject to standard securement regs. Every AG exemption I’ve come into contact with was raw material to first processor or proprietary farm equipment or product . Makes me think they’re pulling a fast one by using AG exemption in crates they built, but it is TX, so who knows.
