New 579, Cobra 29 internal swr meter reading below 1.3. However, when you transmit you get antenna warning. Hooking MFJ 259 C analyzer direct to coax getting a 5 to1 SWR (not 1.5 to 1). looking at the dual coax without disassembling the overhead compartment area it appears the coax goes directly towards antennas on each side. Removing the external plastic covers the exterior mounts are directly mounted to cab with no visible coax connects outside. For giggles removed antennas and tuned them using a mag mount on a car roof. No change to SWR on truck.

Before I start tearing things apart has anyone redone the antenna system on these trucks and what did you find. Being they are plastic trucks are they using a no ground plane system needing special coax? While I could not see to the antenna mounts from the inside it did not appear there is a splitter like the Cascadia uses is this correct? Any special connectors or will PL 259 be correct?
    Thanks

    MOBILE INSTALL: 579 Peterbilt

It's a long read, but it should help you with your antenna problems. These new trucks can be a PIA as far as getting your antenna system right! Not like it used to be. Also search YouTube for vids regarding 579 antenna installs.
My first suggestion would be...........ditch the stock coax! It's junk! Run your own decent coax. Try to run only one antenna. It's much easier to set up than a dual system.

    Good luck!

Singled out drivers side with new coax and a SO-239 to miniPL-259 adaptor. Sanded Braided ground strap connection to bare metal. Installed new K40 4Ft. antenna SWR 1.3 to 1 on channel 19. For some reason can't get VHF antenna dialed in on passenger side. Figured it would be a snap since less ground plane is required.

    It happened to me too.
Single Wilson 2000 Trucker mounted on the driver side mirror.
On a 2012 Volvo 780. New steel stud, new high quality 50 Ohms 12 feet coaxial custom made,
    2022 President McKinley transceiver.
Antenna tunned with magnet mount on the roof of a car. SWR 1.2-1.4 across 40 channels.
Transmission range 3-4 miles in urban setting, receiving sensitivity 80%.
After moving the antenna on the Volvo, the SVR changed to 5.0.
I suspect that the issue is the grounding. I'll wait for a warmer weather to work on replacing the
ground strap. I'll post the results when available.
