Maby they would get more employees if they didn't require experimental ####tails to be injected in a person as a condition of employment....

In other words..they want to get paid for work not Performed..read between the lines people..because you can work 40hrs a week and still have a life outside of work..

Not really. It's simply Tyson refuses to offer benefits unless the employee works 36 hours a week. Since they cannot get enough employees to agree to work without benefits, they are offering to pay the difference.
Make no mistake. This is Tyson 100% offering because Tyson refuses to offer benefits to the part time people. They could offer benefits to all employees, but for whatever reason they won't.

This has nothing to do with "lazy people" or other b.s. talking points. It's 100% corporate greed not wanting to pay benefits. After all once benefits are offered it's very hard to take them back. It's much easier to simply lay off a few part time people.

 

I don't of any place that offers benefits to part timers. I think there will be a lot of takers here. Who wouldn't take that work schedule? Work 3 days and get paid for 4 plus bennies. That's going to get that particular facility fully staffed quickly I think. It don't really save the company any money, it just protects what they already have. After all, other than pay, people complain most about a lack of scheduling flexibility. Plus, Workers have more leverage than ever and Tyson is smart enough to recognize that.

It's called supply and demand.

 

I had a 3 day work week at a warehouse I used to work at. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, 12 hour shifts. Loved it.

Couldn't really do anything but work and sleep those 3 days, but having 4 days off in a row was great. Plenty of time to do lots of stuff.

 

It saves money in the long term. Base pay rate remains low and it's an easy program to terminate once the labor pool grows.

If they raise pay, it's hard to cut it.

If they just offer benefits to part timers, then it's hard to take that away.

Tyson can also start mandating "overtime" without having to increase labor costs.
