You know what I really hope they come down hard with this 2010 stuff so sick of trucking ayhow. And I think you all got it wrong about the driving mills I would say its the foriegners screwing up the industry more then the mill schools.

How so? The mills are the ones getting the licenses for the "foreigners" and rest of the newbies alike.

A company that is concerned about the impact of CSA 2010 is more concerned about their bottom line than they are about safety. Drivers who fear it are concerned because they don't know how to "toe the line" and still make enough money to get by. How's that from a wannabe that doesn't know his aas from his elbow about the trucking industry?

    Markk9 and truckerdave1970 Thank this.

Easier said than done! Not all of us have the luxury of choice! Some of us have to work for whoever will hire us. Some cant get hired by better companies b/c of mistakes we may have made in the past, or b/c we have had our DAC report trashed falsely. It's not all black and white. I wish it were as easy as you seem to think it is. The roads would be a much safer place to work.
I'm not saying we SHOULD compromise, but what else can one do? Welfare, unemployment, foodstamps, section 8 housing??? I've been there and done all that, before I got my CDL and went trucking 15 years ago. It is NO WAY TO LIVE! And I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to never, ever go back to that way of life! If you walked in my shoes, you would understand that!

It might be if they required even a fraction of this crap for cars, but they never will since it is not about safety.

You know what that is a good point! If they tried to pass this kind of garbage against only 1 RACE OR COLOR OF PEOPLE, there would be such an uproar! And you are right about it not being about safety too.
On average big trucks kill 4500 people PER YEAR, while during the same time car accidents kill over 40,000 people!!!
Now I ask you, who, statisticly speaking, is MORE DANGEROUS???
Lawmakers just want VOTERS to feel good that something is being done to "those evil, mean, nasty truckdrivers"! Perhaps if ALL DRIVERS voted in every election, then we could make changes that were REALLY about safety.
You could have the SAFEST equipment possible, COMPLY with every regulation, DRIVING in the best, professional manner possible and all it takes is 1 car, with bad brakes, driving cross town, sick, tired, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving like an idiot to slam into you and let's see who has to PROVE THEIR INNOCENCE with paperwork, drug tests, equipment inspections and all the other crap these lawyers can dream up, then let's see who loses their business or cant pay their bills for having to defend themselves. It sure as hell WONT BE THE 4 WHEELER!
I say if you are on the same road as me, you should be subject to the same standards as me!
