I've got about $400 in Loves points & about $525 in Pilot points. I dont usually spend mine on $1 stuff. Sometimes I do but I dont buy lunch etc where I'm spending $10 - $15.
So, what do I buy? I've bought a TV once but I have to admit, it didnt last but a couple of years & it went out. I've bought a Cobra Classic 29, I've bought a couple of dash cam's, etc. I have bought a few CB Items like antenna's. I bought a couple of external TV antenna's that were ok at best. I usually buy my little dogs those fluffy blankets. I did get my wife a Garmin dash cam for her birthday this year with points. I have bought a couple of the little Road Pro tool sets.
If the GPS in our company Platform Science tablet thinggy dont get improved pretty soon, I'm going to invest in a truck GPS tablet for my own.

These are the kinda things I save & buy. Been doing this for 15 years or so & it works well for me.

Truck stops stock very few items I would actually want. CB, GPS, and a headset are about all I can think of. What I used to do, is save the points all year, then cash them in for coats/jackets for the coats for kids thing the local church did. Knew the manager at a loves, she would give me 10% off the price so it really helped. Clearance prices, 10% off and several hundred dollars in points, the kids made out pretty good with new reasonably good cool looking coats.

Why not? It's an expense, a tool you need for employment. You can write off a portion of your cell bill? Mechanics write off their tools?

You need to read the tax code. Let me give you a starting point. "Standard Deduction" and "Schedule C"

What kind of company driver grosses enough that a itemized deduction would be larger than the standard deduction?

Only a driver that had other significant sources of income.

None....Elroy has not a clue. "It's a write off" is something he heard somebody say once, and thinks it makes him sound smart. If Elroy has over $12,000 in legitimate business expense deductions as a Company Driver, I would like to see the list.

I'm not a company driver, but I have friends who are, and they can deduct 50% of their phone if they use faxing apps data and the phone for business calls. I'm also in Canada, clearly the US is different, pardon me.......

I have an expensive cell phone plan because I want the data OTR. I pay $85 a month. Half of that is $500 a year. Again, that doesn’t even come close to the standard deduction.
