I had to take a drive out to the burbs of Detroit to hit a manards that had electrical parts I need for the office, I get off at middlebelt from i96 and there sits tow trucks, cops and a Kreilkamp reefer sitting on the cross over bridge, and I knew what may have happened, the trailer got stuck and the driver tried to get past the curve.

see a while back, they rebuilt the freeway in that area, but they failed to widen the bridges on a few of these cross overs, leaving a truck being stuck or damaging the bridge. Across middle belt there is a nice wide bridge that should have been the model for all of them but nope. The other cross over bridge just an eighth mile down is nice and wide and all trucks should be using it.

So on my way back to the office, I got to see what happened, the entire undercarriage was ripped from the trailer and the cops don’t look to happy.

To the drivers who need to travel to exit 176, and leave to go west on I 96, go to the large bridge, it may seem to be a pia but you won’t get stuck.

if you want to see where I’m talking about …

my question is this … is this only Michigan that has stupid road engineers?

Gotta be better than PA, where they built all the roads without any engineers.

PA is actually doing a lot of good overdue projects. Lots of widening that was definitely needed. Thank you Gov. Wolf

-cough-gag-cough. I can’t believe I said that last sentence, even as a joke.

Come to Texas. Instead of on-ramps, you get a short chicane that dumps you directly onto an 80mph interstate.

Yep, they imported that feature via their millions of California invaders. Texas will be California before you know it.

It's Detroit @Ridgeline , they figured one was good enough. Then gave themselves a bonus for being on time and under budget on the project
