20220123_113033.jpg Customer calls..."we have a grader that has slid off the road, can you head out and see if you can winch him out?"

I'm thinking he slid off the road, and then spent a half hour working himself into oblivion. Gonna take more than a winch tractor to get this out...

Yep the drive up would be appealing. Know several that have done it mostly campers, Bikers, and Side hacks. Was concerned about my Plastic Pete surviving the trip.

Span Alaska | Experts in Alaska Freight Forwarding
This is the cross dock place. They kinda operate like any LTL dock. They just use containers that they shuttle to a boat for the trip. If it is not time sensitive kinda hard to beat their price. They have refer cans and the produce houses have reserved spots on ships to move stuff up quickly. Produce house I delivered to in the past had their shipments loaded split in the trailer. Local on the tail, Alaska in the front. Would drop the local stuff then drive down the alley to the Alaska dock. Alaska dock they pulled the load, then sorted it for each customer in Alaska. Would then move it to that forwarder. Dude there told me stuff I dropped at midnight would be loaded on the ship by Lunch.

My goal a couple of years back was Minimum $8k of booked freight value per week, achievable goal was $10k+ per week. That $12k number to Alaska was about average, kinda hard to pass on. Until you realize there are no loads back and you just booked 2 weeks of truck movement for less than target revenue.

Keri called me about 10 minutes ago. One of the Flight Attendants on her flight from SLC is somebody she knows and works with. She is based in Atlanta and they are going to spend some time together tonight. I think this girl is trying to swap with another person and work her flight to Norfolk tomorrow. She wants to meet me.

Champion graders don't have the side slip option like the cats. Cats are nice for that, side slip the blade and up over the beavertails to load. Everything else a guy has to deck the scissorneck down.

Been raining here all morning. Can't even stand on the road where the grader hasn't scratched it. I had to throw one set and a steer chain just to get to him without sliding off the road.
