Ive been makin about 450, before taxes, a week, and the first truck I got from swift broke down after 700 miles. Clutch linkage broke. Then the tow truck broke down towing me to the terminal. The second truck I got the air pump wasn't pumping all that great and the mechanic said it was fine even tho it took a few minutes to go from 20 to 45 psi. There after 1000 miles after picking up the second truck, that was supposed to be new driver ready, I had to take it into the shop for a B-Service that ended up taking all day. Swift blows goats!!!

That's about par for the course. You still have some growing pains to endure but it does get better. You can expect maybe $100 more than what you're making now on average with the pay increases and the learning curve getting smaller. You'll have some really good weeks and some really crappy weeks, that's just the way it goes.

I posted my actual logs on here ( much to the disdain of neat freaks) but it shows how good trip planning and good trips can pay off. The problem is, with the freight levels being crappy for general dry van freight, you can probably expect less than average weeks for a while coming.

Hang in there man, you can do a lot worse than Swift!

I would say 90% of my runs are east of Texas in fact right now I'm in Southern California first time I have been west of Amarillo since July.

I'm at .38 since the cut rarely do I get the east coast rate since I either pickup or deliver on either side of the Misssissippi River (.38 west/.40 east after cut)

I did mention that I was at the top of the pay scale, as for location not sure it really helps what does help is I rarely refuse loads so I don't sit to much. I hear a lot of drivers complain that they are not getting loads mostly likely they refuse loads. Yes I have a good DM out of Fontana when I moved to Texas last year I kept him as my DM been with him for about 3 years.

I agree with you any newb is only dreaming if they think they can make 40K a year first starting. The adds for most companies are a bit miss leading stating earn "upto $40,000.00/yr" they don't catch that "upto" part.

I like Swift they work well for me not to say they will be a good fit for everyone. I have been with Swift 5 of my 6 years of CDL driving.

OK...I'm a recent school grad...I did 6 years of OTR work with a vehicle relocation service and discovered I enjoy the lifestyle. But, from my previous career in Hospitality (BA Metro State of Denver + 20 years) I know that there are always problems. My question is options. Should I commit to Swft or consider other offers. I'm looking at PAM too...

Most of the time its not the recruiter but Memphis, if you want to run out of Phx contact recruiters there.
