Hey guys this forum has been the best brotherhood of truckers I’ve encountered so far in my minuscule time as a newbie driver (11 months) so thanks for that!

just wondering if anyone works for KAG in Ohio and knows if it’s a good company. I’m reading reviews on Glassdoor and they aren’t great, but wanted to put it out there since they have a few home daily spots open and I’m considering it. Thanks!

KAG is a HUGE company with several divisions. I have been with them for 6 months in the Food Grade division and love it so far. I started as company driver while waiting on my new truck to arrive so I could switch to O/O. I signed on for one of their dedicated deals and have been really pleased. I actually have over 30 years driving experience (dry van) but just recently made the move to tankers.

As someone who survived a buyout attempt by kag they are a plague upon the tank industry . Got no use for them at all.

It depends a lot on the terminal. I know of one, a gas/oil terminal, where everyone is pretty laid back and all the drivers I talk to seem pretty happy. Everyone gets along or it seems that way. Most of the help have been there quite a while and have no plans to leave.
Go 100 miles north to another terminal and it's like a war zone. Management hates the drivers, the drivers hate management, the drivers hate each other, the shop hates everybody, and everyone I come onto contact with acts like he's ready to take a swing at somebody. They're always short handed because nobody stays.
I'm sorry I can't answer your question better than that but it's what I've seen. Maybe you could talk to drivers from different terminals you're interested in. A bad place always gets a reputation and everybody knows about it. A good place, not so much.

Do they have driver facing cameras?

I have no idea. I never got around the trucks much, just talked to the drivers.

    I would second @REO6205 's thoughts.

We had a driver who worked for KAG out in Washington State. When his wife got a good job out here, they moved and he transferred terminals. After a month he quit and hired on in our intermodal division. He said the new terminal was a toxic nightmare.

I worked Food Grade for them out of Huntsville, AL. (palm oil / Soy bean oil / blends) Over all it wasn't too bad of a gig, I had 3 issues. 1) At the time management was disorganized but it wasnt so bad that you couldnt deal with it. 2) the customer, Bunge, was just horrible. especially in the winter. Many delays getting loaded. 3) the thing that sealed the deal for me was that the surge in those smoothed bore trailers was just wrecking my neck.

That said there is only one way for you to know for sure if itll work for you.

A buddy of mine hauls fuel for them after they bought out the company he was working for. He says "they're the Swift of the tanker world" and is looking for a new job.
