I have an annoying issue on my Volvo VNL 670, 2007. After the fuel gelled 3 weeks ago and we changed the filters to another brand, the truck a week later started to act out. Just within the last 2 weeks it turns on fine but randomly the "Change Fuel Filters" message appears and then the truck dies. The truck will not start back up for a while. Battery's are brand new. It has an electric prime machine so I can not prime manually. I have gone through 3 different sets of filters and the issue still happens. Any advice? I am going back to the old brand (Baldwin) I had before the issues occurred, hoping that helps. Only codes that showed up on the mechanics side were a bad EGR value failed. Mechanic doesn't think any of those codes are the issue. I have taken it to 3 different shops already and they all say everything looks fine. This last time I even had them replace the ignition coil because it was going back and fixed some electrical shorts that were happening from the engine to the battery's. The issue still continues. We were stranded in Greenbay yesterday for a couple hours but made it home after a couple hours. This independent mechanic claims that it is the electrical lift pump or the hose inside the fuel tank not sending fuel up the way it should? I am really frustrated and I am just starting off with this truck and have been having issues. Thanks in advance.

    Cummins ISX engine.

Did you check the fuel lines? 14 year old truck. They may have collapsed.

Your pick up tube in fuel tank could be clogged.
Undo connection on top of tank and blow air into the tank through the pick up fuel line (tube).

Friend of mine had issue where his pick up tube in the tank was cracked allowing air being introduced to the fuel system shutting it down however this condition occurred at certain fuel levels so not sure if that's your issue, just throwing it out there

Did you add any anti gel to the fuel in the tanks?

Hello, taking a different path. I have a Isx ,2005, the inline fuse melted, rusted etc, engine died. $200 later fixed by dealer in St John, Nfld truck ran fine. Volvo wiring sucks also look at the post about possible instrument cluster issue. My cluster sometimes flickers and with the ad I found on Kijiji that mentioned sudden engine stopping that maybe another path to look at.

Another post has suggested another solution, loose connection at starter. My Isx has had the starter come loose and cause interesting issues.
