Walmart greeter might be the best bet. When you are starting over nothing is going to be perfect. Especially when you are choosing a mega. Trainer might smoke, won’t run the area you want, deal with it. Get through your training you need and move on instead of worrying about this stuff.

Please don't listen to him, Rocks. BM 58 must be a smoker, because no non-smoker would willingly choose to live in a coffin with another smoker who smokes in the truck. Cigarette smoke smells awful to non-smokers and I know for me personally it can give me a headache just being around it outside, much less inside a small truck.

Go for what you want if you can get it. I don't think the criteria that you have is unreasonable at all.

I don’t know about now, but when I was there some ten years ago, I needed a week off with no vacation time available. I worked seven weeks and took seven days.

I think you already said that before... if you don't have any useful info about Crete, just ignore my posting.
I am not asking anybody how to do my job search or what should be important to me or not.

    dwells40 Thanks this.

Maybe 50% but there have been times where a live unload/load is faster because of this whole covid labor shortage. We have fewer trailers over here on the refrigerated side, and when you get to your drop customer, they sometimes don't have any empties because they didn't have the staff to unload a trailer, or, they also ship loads out and they need our empties to reload, and your next load isn't picking up there. So, a drop and hook becomes a drop and hunt. I have asked Op's to just merry a trailer to my truck in the system and I will do all live load/unload, but their system isn't set up for that, so they can't. The last two weeks or so have been great because I picked up a load out of our PA terminal, took it to Louisville, live unloaded, and reloaded out of the same dock, took that load to Reno, live unloaded, then went into Cali, live loaded, and pulled that load to a live unload customer in Jacksonville, FL. Have had the same trailer the whole time, and other than dropping the trailer once to grease my 5th wheel, I haven't been out from under it...and I haven't wasted a minute going on an easter egg hunt looking for an empty where dispatch thinks one might be, only to find out that place doesn't have any available and get sent elsewhere. But that is rare to be under the same trailer that long.

    Thanks @supersnackbar ... :)
I have just watched a YouTube video with Tim Aschoff and Eric Kutter answering questions from many drivers... They confirm that locating empty trailers is still a problem they couldn't have solved yet... specially after COVID for the reasons you have just explained... Crete former driver told me some drivers seal the empty trailers so that nobody else get them... :angry2: And the next problem about drop and hook is hooking to trailers with unfixed problems left by previous driver... :angry1: I guess you may encounter many of those...

You'll have the 'stick the next driver with the trailer problem' anywhere you go. And don't put too much faith in the "Asked and answered" videos...the way they word some of the questions, you can tell just by the terminology they use, a lot of what they say is staged. There may be some legatimate questions intermixed, but most of the questions are just another way for them to sound important. A few of us refer to the weekly videos they put out as the "Weekly Propaganda" videos.

I quit smoking about ten years ago and I too hate to be around someone that does. My point was with the amount of drivers Crete employs surely they can find someone to pair her with for a few weeks that doesn't.

I must be odd. I don’t smoke but love the smell of fresh cigarettes. Lol.

Carry on. Good luck finding the right place.
