This is pretty good! Thank you. Yeah some questions like what I asked are sometimes so hard for others to explain and yet even with an answer/s so hard for me to understand still. I guess there are some things that are just much easier to explain/learn in person! I appreciate the detailed explanation!

Always welcome…
I run a 13 spd, and at times I’m grossing around 100,000 on 5 axles. Living in WV I’m always dealing with a incline.
If I ever change transmissions I’ll be switching to a 18 speed for the area I live in.
When I have to take out on a mountain side, at times getting the rpm’s to drop quick enough can be an issue trying to grab the next gear. At these times l use the Jake Brake to help drop the rpm’s. But that’s just me. Stay safe out there….. -

Some times I only split the top, like a 13, sometimes if I’m on a hill I’ll split 4th before coming to the high side, some times I’ll drive it like a 9 or even skip a few other gears in the middle
I always start in low with any kind of load on because I hate cutting into my beer drinking time doing clutch adjustments -
Lonesome and jamespmack Thank this.

Who wants to go first??TooTiredToTalk and Oxbow Thank this. -
To be honest the only time a straight 10 is even remotely an issue at 80k or less is that the gap between 9th and 10th gets a little wide for heavier loads. "9.5" would be a big help to keep the motor in it's happy spot and that is essentially why a 13 speed is a little better.
