TheStopSignGuy, cuzzin it, VIDEODROME and 5 others Thank this. -
Lots of those spots available. There is a shortage if drivers right now..... that will work for slave wages and be treated like crap.
The ONLY expense the big carriers can control is labor. Cant control fuel price, truck prices, repair prices, lease prices... you get the picture.
So, they cry "driver shortage" and get temporary foreign workers to drive for 40-45 cents a mile, if your lucky.
I feel bad for these people, I'm proud that I live in a country that others will totally uproot their lives to come to, because it's a better life, but ashamed that the government allows corporations to prey on these people, underpaying them, threaten to pull their visas if they dont tow the line, and send them out untrained, and sometimes not even able to read and write english yet.SomeCanadian, mikamikael, stacks and 7 others Thank this. -

Is there an exam or required training process to get AZ even if you already have a U.S. Class A CDL? Aside from driving probably cover subtle differences in the HOS or other rules.
I currently do local work that is a mix of Yard Truck ( or is that Shunt Truck up there? ) and local shuttle. I wonder if the immigrant drivers can get those kinds of decent local jobs or if the system favors sending foreigners to the longhaul positions.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
If you hold a valid CDL in the US, it will be transferred into a Canadian license. Assuming, your immigration status is legal.

Like...half my coworkers have come to Canada via the provincial nominee program. The usual road is to work in Europe for 2 years then apply for the program. All the jobs are long haul and they all pay ####.
Another Canadian driver and Magoo1968 Thank this. -
