Considering applying to Walmart

Considering applying to Walmart and had a few questions.

Is there a maximum distance you are allowed to live from the DC? The closest DC to me is Smyrna Delaware even though I live in PA, but Pottstown Pa is only 5-10 minutes farther. Smyrna is 1hr 45 minutes and Pottstown is closer to 2hrs but I figured my taxes would be simpler staying in my state of residence and Pottstown is offering a $12,000 sign on bonus as opposed to Smyrna offering $8,000.

How long is orientation and training? I have 20 years experience but only with a small private fleet with very lax policies. We run most of the East Coast but stay in hotels overnight, usually out 1 to 2 nights a week.

How much is family health insurance premiums? I am currently paying $428 every 2 weeks for family health and dental insurance.

How much is your deductible if you don't mind me asking? I know we are in different regions and I am probably comparing apples to oranges but just trying to get an idea.

Also what exactly is onboarding? Does that mean they fly you out somewhere for a week to introduce you to the company culture and ##### you?

I see on the website that one of the requirements is no preventable accidents in the last 3 years. I was involved in 2 minor accidents last year but I don't know if they were preventable or not.

1st I had a lady try to pass on my passenger side right at a merge point and by the time I saw her it was too late and she hit my right side wheel studs with her rear bumper. No police involved and she admitted fault right away but I got her information and forwarded it to my company even though she refused to take my information. I do not know if my company sent it to the insurance company since there was no damage to our truck.

2nd accident I was East bound on the Cross Bronx Expressway about 7am one morning. Traffic had just eased up and I was able to get some speed up and decided to move to the left lane in preparation for the 95/295 split. A minivan comes up an on ramp and cuts across all 3 lanes of traffic directly into my path. Unfortunately they were only doing about 35 mph and I was doing closer to 60, I jammed the brakes but my trailer hit one of the notorious Cross Bronx speed bumps and my trailer ABS activated causing me to rear end them. I was on the air horn and I saw I busted out their taillight and crushed the rear bumper.

I pulled over but the minivan kept going, I immediately called the police but they informed me it would be at least 2 hours before they would be able to come out and make a report. They suggested that I fill out an accident self report, I contacted my company and they agreed so that's what I did. I got the minivans tag # off my dashcam and checked it, came up expired tag. I mailed the accident self report to Albany by certified mail with all our insurance information and a self estimate of damage to my company truck which was just minor damage to the bumper. I never got any response.

I am pretty sure my DMV driving record is clean but I am not sure what an insurance company would be able to pull up, or how to check that.

 

$13,500 seems really high for a deductible, are you sure that isn't total out of pocket? My deductible went from $3000 to $4000 last year.

My company is a very small private fleet, no safety department or person. I am pretty sure there is no safety report on me and I would rather not ask as that may tip my hand that I am thinking of leaving.

Also I assume I would have to work weekends unless I specifically took off. Do all drivers have to work weekends, or is it a seniority thing? It would probably be a long time before I would get any seniority as drivers don't leave often?
