The size of the Nebraskan rest areas along I-80 are absolutely pathetic. Seeing miles and miles of open farmland and only farmland that surround the rest areas, only for them to have room for about 6 trucks at each rest area. And all of them are old, rundown and poorly maintained. There's no excuse for that.

Plenty of truckstops , sorry we don't roll out a red carpet for you !
That's why we have reasonable taxes and smooth roads .

First off, I just want to say that I love the Moorehouse Thread in the favorite companies section of the forum and you also personally answered my questions that I had about that company last year. With that said, what I write below is not intended to be argumentative or combative towards you :D

To answer your question, I'm a North Carolina resident. Not that it matters either way as it still wouldn't change the fact that Nebraska should be ashamed of itself for their terrible rest areas.

You're talking about California, I don't want to talk about California. Let's talk about Nebraska's neighbors, Iowa and South Dakota. Explain to me why Iowa and South Dakota can build an adequate amount of rest areas along their main interstates that are clean and well maintained and have more than 6 lousy parking spaces for trucks?

In my opinion Iowa sets THE gold standard for rest areas along I-80, they have them every 30 minutes like clockwork. Iowa is more populated than Nebraska, with Iowa's population more evenly distributed throughout the state, so I get that Nebraska couldn't do that with where its population centers are in the state.

But what about South Dakota? South Dakota is very similar to Nebraska in terms of its size and the distribution of its population. South Dakota I-90 is all but in name the equivalent of Nebraska's I-80. South Dakota on I-90 is almost identical to Nebraska on I-80, where South Dakota has a few "big" population centers throughout I-90, with the rest of it being very rural, just like Nebraska is on I-80. And yet South Dakota can actually build decent and a respectable number of rest areas along that stretch of road with plenty of parking.

Both Iowa and South Dakota have reasonable taxes (among the best in the nation in South Dakota's case) and smooth roads.

So if Iowa and South Dakota can do it, what's Nebraska's excuse?

Nebraska doesn't have an excuse and it's a sorry ### state when it comes to rest areas. As busy and as vital as Interstate 80 is to the nation, that's downright disrespectful to truck drivers to give them 6 whopping parking spaces for most rest areas along I-80, when said rest areas are surrounded by nothing but fields as far as the eyes can see. I stand by my title, Nebraska should be ashamed of itself.

You should have started with this..

Then gone with the rest of your post. :)

Also, you'd get more views if you mentioned tacos. People like tacos, even if they don't like the rant that mentions tacos.

Ok so for nonargumentive reasons here is my reply..
Being a resident of the state of Iowa for 25 years and traveling across Iowa & Nebraska weekly for 35 plus years I really don't think the rest area's in Nebraska are bad .. there are plenty.of truck stops in Nebraska if you don't like the rest areas.. and the chances of the Nebraska DOT camping out in a rest area are 99.9 % less likely than in the state of Iowa...
I really get tried of drivers complaining about my good neighboring state of Nebraska and how boring it is to drive across and it stinks and smells like pee.. Bah Bah Bah.. my answer to them.is always ..then choose another route .. jump down on I 70 in Kansas. see how much more exciting that scenic route is especially when your dealing with bad weather..or jump.up on I 94 and then you can complain about complete desolation
Personally I would much rather drive across Nebraska than my home state of Iowa...Especially when the weather is bad..
Maybe the reason we have alittle better rest areas in Iowa is because we have a larger population that both South Dakota & Nebraska..combined
South Dakota has a population of 850,000
    Nebraska is 1.9 million
Iowa is 3.3 million and 1.3 million of those are liberal Ftards that complain about their neighboring states

Dunno, I’ve never had issues parking in Nebraska at any hour. Big chain truckstop a always seem to have at least one spot open when I arrive

Well while I still disagree with your post I do give you an A plus for coming back for another swing in round 2 , further more I apologize for insinuating you might be a California resident and I will volunteer for the next express bus to hell .
I my defense I will admit to being drunk when I replied to your post .
I intend to retire at 65 and will run for governor of Nebraska at which point I will toll the hell out of all 455 miles of 80 and run every dam farmer off any land ajoining 80.
This will provide the parking you desire and provide funding for service plazas that will make Disney land jealous.
Can I count on a generous campaign contribution from you ?
